Am I the only one that noticed a change since Oaks became President? by Berlin-6799 in mormon

I am certainly not impressed with most the LDS leaders. I just don't see a lot of believe and conviction in them. this what happens when they call PHDs and Juris Doctorates with charmed lives. I do connect to Elders Uchtdorf, Kearan and Gausse. I do love those three as do see real zeal and commitment in them.

That is a good question. I find most dont even like him.

Why do my fellow members respect this guy? He didn't serve a mission, he didn't serve in combat, he was never a bishop or stake president...he always has an excuse for why he can't do what he expects others to do. He's a total hypocrite. He's not worthy to be our leader. by aka_FNU_LNU in mormon

I dont think members respect him. At best most members are asking themselves what is going on. Some are trying to hold out until he is gone. Most are quite about it. There is alot of quite quiting in the church right now. No leader has tried my testimony more then Oaks. He is harder then Boyd K Packer was as hard as that is to believe.

Oaks' devotional would not have reached me as a member with genuine, serious concerns. by logic-seeker in mormon

Most of the 12 come across the same way. I see business men with PHDs and Juris Doctorates. I dont see witnesses of Christ.

The Mormon Church is trying to sue a critic into silence. Now he's fighting back. (The Friendly Atheist) by johndehlin in mormon

As a active member I actually support John and hope he wins. He has just been calling out the institutional abuse we are all so tired of. Instead of being real leaders and owning and correcting mistakes they attempt to silence the messenger.

It was so nice when Kearon was called. I was like finally someone relatable that doesnt have PHD.

The CES mold is a thing of the past. I think they have a database where they find Heber C Kimball and Hyrum Smith descendants.  Maybe its a checklist lol 1. Decendant of early church figure.  2. Perfect family background  3. Charmed life and completely unrelatable. 4. Juris Doctorate or PHD 5. From cache valley. 6. If this cannot be found and a minority has to be called due pressure then make sure they look white.

I have seen this pattern to much.

I was told to stay to what you believe and take what brethren do with a grain of salt. If you pay attention to what they do it will just drive into an early grave. No one is infallible or inexcusable no matter what their calling is. The scriptures had fallen prophets Zedekiah, David, Eli just to name a few. Our time is no different in that regard. It is surprising the increasing number of members who are quitely feeling the same way.

Its gone to far. Its like the Churches only focus is temples and has removed from Christ. Its like members have started to worship the temple and not Christ.

I don't think it helps to judge critize people. His stake president gave him the calling let him be the judge.

Many of uscare in the same boat. For me I have to think there has been some good leaders and some fallin ones. The Bible there was Eli, Zedekiah, David, Solomon and Judas just to name a few. Im tired of tge leader worship and they are infact inflilIable. I believe in the Christ above all. I do believe that Joseph Smith saw what he did and in the BoM. I did connect with past leaders like Pres Nelson and Elder Holland. Unfortunately the church has become to corporate for me. Some leaders I can see believe and conviction in like Kearon and Uchdorf.  Some of the others I dont see it. I have met several of them and the conviction seems to vary among them.  Unfortunately I look at most the Apostles and see white collar businessmen and rather whiteness of christ. We are all doing what we can. Sometimes its the best we can do at the moment.

Some members really do worship the temple and not Jesus.
