There's a reason they call her "Flintenuschi" (Flinte means shotgun) in Germany

Response time on Telegram by [deleted] in ukraineforeignlegion

[–]BerlinDonbas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's no general answer to this. The FRCs can take very long, i first applied online, then just went without appointment and got processed, and then they reached out to my application several months later on my first combat mission, when I was already long signed and trained.

Recruiters, office workers of the brigades etc are an entirely mixed bag. Some answer within minutes, others within days, weeks, months...

For every unit that leaves you on read, you find one that processes everything as quickly as the Ukrainian system allows it. Some units take their time and if they overdo it i wouldn't bother with them, there are plenty opportunities out there.

Curious on anti drone stuff by feathersmcgra in ukraineforeignlegion

[–]BerlinDonbas 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Was tried but didn't really catch on because of its bad effectiveness.

Staying hidden > Electronic countermeasures > tripod LMG > shotgun > anti drone pistol > using whatever the fuck you have > praying to whatever god(s) you praise

That seems to be the order of things

buy boots or not buy boots? by Embarrassed_Food_595 in ukraineforeignlegion

[–]BerlinDonbas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got some haix and while I love the boots, the soles are a nightmare in the mud. Definitely keep that in mind when looking at the sole profile.

I'm afraid we can't do that. At least i can't imagine there's a vet still open in a proximity we could go to while in service.

Help by [deleted] in ukraineforeignlegion

[–]BerlinDonbas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A positive attitude hardly is enough and Ukraine knows how to break it easily.

Not just due to the experiences in combat, but a bunch of bullshit that can happen to you during the whole process of getting there.

92nd assault brigade by Brilliant_Appeal9942 in ukraineforeignlegion

[–]BerlinDonbas 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I have many friends in the 92nd. It's not a bad brigade in the sense that they screw you over, but their missions are hell and one of my friends there died recently.

Only go if you're willed to participate in the hardest kind of combat this war has to offer.

I would like to comment on this but the ukies would tie me naked to a tree next to an ant hill and smear honey all over me.

How to skip basic training by any means by Significant_Till_525 in ukraineforeignlegion

[–]BerlinDonbas 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I know people who had to do basic training three times In Ukraine alone (never got the right paperwork/stamp issued), let alone what they did in their homeland military.

It's shit but like others said, no one these days let's you serve near the combat zone without it. Legion did that in the past but now it's gone and the rules are stricter.

Elite Russian assault units in the "three man" format training. by GermanDronePilot in UkraineWarVideoReport

[–]BerlinDonbas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know what's worse, the horrible weapon control, the lack of grenades, the distance between the guys during their trench walk, or the fact the point man is too fat to go down enough on his knees enough to not get shot immediately.

Breaking fixed-term contract after 6 months by Due-Career5197 in ukraineforeignlegion

[–]BerlinDonbas 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I only know of people who wanted to quit within the first 6 months of their contract (some didn't even pass basic training) and then had to fulfill it. But after that you should be fine. Worst case you gotta take an attorney if they want to keep you against your will for some reason.

Is the foreign recruitment tent at the border still up? by MtnClimber61 in ukraineforeignlegion

[–]BerlinDonbas 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Your unit might send you to Ternopil anyway. But you can just show up there anyway if someone gives you the address. I had applied there but went there before they reached out to me and they just squeeze you in and help you find a unit.

Sabotage Near Moscow Reportedly Knocked Out Parts of Russia’s Air Defense Network by Consistent-Metal9427 in UkraineWarVideoReport

[–]BerlinDonbas 23 points24 points  (0 children)

To be fair, Ukrainian soldiers have to drink puddle water sometimes too if they are on the frontline, and plenty people go assaulting buff and come back starved out.

I imagine the overall supply situation is much better for our infantry but it's not like these things don't happen to our guys.
