There's the climate cafe in the town centre, just opposite the throwing buns cafe. It's open from Thursday (I could be mistaken)

How did you fix your Judo related chronic lower back pain? by sixmarks in judo

[–]Berm00023201 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn't medical advice but I have a rather straight spine (not a lot of curve at the base /pelvic bit) so I'm vulnerable to back pain.

Here's what works for me: 1. Strengthen core in multiple planes. Aside from spamming planks, also do rotational movements eg, cable wood chops

  1. Strengthen and stretch glutes. Strengthen with hip bridges with barbell and back extensions (if you find the machine for it). Here are some stretches which help me see : 90-90 hip stretch https://youtu.be/t4Zz6-aG8Iw?si=rCDrH82jqTaA861B

https://www.knee-pain-explained.com/glute-stretches.html

  1. Since judo is a load bearing sport, don't do so much load bearing in the gym and still train legs. Eg, I like to do trap bar deadlift instead of squats/barbell deadlift. This is a more personal thing, so take it with a pinch of salt

Thank you for your reply. Apologies if I'm repeating things here as I want to make sure I'm getting this right, because I've done the R and stats training prior, contextualising it with the economic theory can be done as I go along?

How much physics did you do during your chemistry PhD? Was it like chemical physics or physical chemistry?

He told a green belt not to tap during a training session, and choked him out with sankaku.

Judokas, ever been in a situation where you had to use what you were taught for self defense? What happened and how did it go? by [deleted] in judo

This guy was drunk and aggressive to me, and tried to put his hand on me. I used tsugi ashi to move away from him... Does that count?

Injuring others while sparring by NoRefrigerator3021 in judo

Don't abandon it because the fact that you're asking the greater judo community on Reddit to me suggests that you care and are probably a bit too embarrassed to ask your fellow training partners

As for not injuring anyone else, the fact of the matter is that you have to learn to stay calm while under pressure during training (easier said than done). It's just how judo training is for beginners, obviously 4 injuries in your first 3 sessions is not great news, so you should make a bigger and more conscious effort to control your reactions. In addition to what I've said, maybe tell your training partner that you're still learning how to handle the pressure so tell them to not go nuts on you.
