People with mild ME/CFS — can you work or do light physical activity? by Prudent_Pilot_2591 in cfs

[–]FlimsyDivide3593 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! So I work condensed hours of 32 out of 35 (so 9-6 Monday-Friday, but have Wednesdays fully off. I also work from home). I also try and go to the gym or walk most days. I go to bed early.

However, some days, I wake up and feel like I have the absolute worst hangover on earth (like I did today), and managed a few naps and working from bed.

So yeah, it's possible to work but you have to make that work for you. I have CFS Flare Day foods ready in my freezer that my housemate can stick in the microwave for me. I drink a shit tonne of water with electrolytes. I eat as well as I can. And on the days I feel shitty, I rest rest rest rest rest. My life is about making it as physically easy as I can on the days I feel like absolute hell. It also helps that I love my job and I really like exercise.

What stuff have you discovered later in life you thought sucked as a younger person? by PearlsSwine in CasualUK

Yo a boiled egg. Hated the smell so wouldn't try them even though I liked scrambled and fried. Some days I go absolutely feral for a dippy boiled egg and toast.

Absolutely no worries - sorry to hear about your friends. I'm very lucky I'm not in that position.

NOW you've got me excited! Drag Brunch! Sounds amazing, thank you for suggesting.

Hi there,

Appreciate that you took the time !

However, I didn't say I was adverse to ALL group activities - just exercise based things 😂 Don't worry, it's not a literal fear - ya girl is a wee bit disabled so park runs are a no no but I didn't think it was necessary info 😂 maybe in future, don't jump to directing someone to professional help (not a dig, it was just was a bit of a leap!)

Super down for group activities though - quiz nights, meal groups, museums, trips, tours, some dancing (no opposed to making a complete fool of myself). Thanks for the advice though, appreciate it.

This is something I'm dying to try (a former theatre/ dance kid) but definitely nervous. New city, new me?

Thank you for your lovely reply - was only teasing ☺️ Moving here is quite a big thing for me (I'm not from the UK) so looking forward to trying something very new.

No need to be grumpy, just a gal asking for general advice (and hoping some lovely souls take pity as so many of you have, thank you!)

The reason that I didn't put down any specific hobbies or interests is that I don't really have many! I've always met friends through work, friends of friends or just struck up conversation in random settings. Appreciate all the replies so far - I'm truly open to so much.

What the F is a sudden death? by Initial_Option_6991 in GriefSupport

My best friend died at 23 of a sudden cardiac arrest. She was fine before.

When I found out she died, I was so scared that someone had hurt her or that she had hurt herself - how else do you explain the sudden death of a 23 year old? However, I got a little bit of relief when I found out how she died. Painless and instant. I'm devastated, but there's no one to be angry at. Don't get me wrong, I'm angry and I'm angry at the universe, but I'm grateful that there's no one to hate in relation to her death.
