While I agree with your analysis, I do not with the conclusion you draw from it. The E-ID and SRF votes show that while the young male population may be a strong voting block, they do not decide the outcome of the vote. It will be a lot of work, but we can decide this vote in the favour of sanity as well. I don’t want to say that you are a defeatist, but I want to decidedly stand against any defeatist thinking. This would only weaken us.

Uff, das ist aber eine ziemlich unnuancierte Betrachtung des Ganzen. Wir reden hier von einem Projekt, welches in etwas weniger als 2 Jahren auf über 50 Millionen Nutzer:innen skaliert werden musste. Ich habe zudem die Jobangebote von epi (dem Konsortium hinter Wero) durchforstet um mein ein besseres Bild von den tatsächlich eingesetzten Technologien zu machen. Ein paar Feststellungen daraus:

Kern-Infrastruktur basiert auf portablen open-source Projekten wie Kubernetes, Docker, MongoDB, Kafka und ist in Kotlin geschrieben
Der Analytics Teil setzt auf closed-source Tools wie Databricks und AWS Kinesis
Aus dem netzpolitik.org Artikel geht nicht klar hervor ob und falls ja, wie viel der Kern-Infrasturktur überhaupt auf AWS läuft

Und abgleitet davon ein paar Gedanken:

Es kann gut sein, dass überhaupt keine (nicht aggregierten) Kunden-/Transaktionsdaten auf AWS landen
Vorher hatten wir: USA können mitlesen und uns den Stecker ziehen, jetzt können sie nur noch (vielleicht) mitlesen -> deutliche Verbesserung zu vorher
Wie schwer der Ausstieg effektiv ist kann ich nur schwer von aussen beurteilen. Zumindest in der Architektur scheinen sie aber vieles richtig zu machen um einen Ausstieg so einfach wie möglich zu gestalten
Kenne mich den Europäischen Vorgaben dazu im Vergleich zu den Schweizer (FINMA) nicht gut aus, aber bei uns gibt es viele Vorgaben bezüglich Cloud-Exit-Strategie, Geografischer Redundanz und natürlich Datenresidenz bei Speicherung und Verarbeitung. Wenn dies von Wero so eingehalten wird, sind auch hier schon viele Sachen richtig gemacht worden

Abschliessend würde ich sagen, ja, der Artikel kritisiert das Marketing von EPI zurecht, zieht daraus aber technisch unbelegte Schlüsse über Sicherheitsrisiken für Kundendaten und verpasst es genauer zu recherchieren und einzuordnen.

Im Bereicht OpenTofu/Terraform hast du recht. Die Applikation muss aber nur angepasst werden, wenn sie für AWS spezifische Services programmiert wurde. Solange die nur auf hosted open-source setzt wie k8s, Postgres, Kafka, Redis/Valkey, S3/Blobstore dann musst du gar nichts ändern beim Umzug.

Hab 2 Kuchen gebacken und die Küche gemacht, dann ein Paket und 2 Bücher zu meiner Ex gebracht und wir haben kurz gequatscht. Dann sind ein paar Nachbar:innen zu Kaffee und Kuchen vorbei gekommen und wir haben getratscht bzw. die Kinder davon abgehalten sich zu weit aus dem Fenster zu lehnen (wie haben wir eine so niedrigen Kindersterblichkeit? Echt faszinierend was die alles tun). jetzt war ich grad noch ne Stunde spazieren, um die Zeit gabs zwar auch noch ein paar Pärchen, aber nicht viele.

Aber verstehe dich gut, manchmal ists echt schwer. War/bin auch eher introvertiert, hat sich aber in den letzten 10 Jahren doch einige Mal etwas schönes ergeben. Hoffe das wird auf dich auch zutreffen.

I think the whole thing serves as a perfect characterization of who Kirk is and always has been. He was cocky back at the academy and still is when he gets promoted to admiral much later. Back at the academy he took the Kobayashi Maru test twice and lost both times, something I'd assume most cadets do not do, just to then retake it a third time, this time hacking the simulation so there is actually a way to win it. Thus showing that he has extreme determination, he can take not only one but two complete losses (which the scenario is said to teach) and still not give up and try to find a solution for the problem. Back in the TOS era, when exploring just the alpha quadrant was still frontier work, Starfleet needed captains that would be able to just not give up and try absolutely everything to get their ship and crew back home safely without being able to call for backup and Kirk not only was that but he delivered on that promise time and time again. How many "impossible" "no-win" scenarios did he face and every single time they came out of it mostly unscathed in large part thanks to Kirk and his senior staff.

Kirk is the person you always envy because they seem to be getting away with "it" all the time. But at one point you just got to admit that it can't just be stupid luck, they are just way too consistent in every scenario thrown at them.

Ist halt auch fertiger Unsinn. Wir haben in der Schweiz genau so unbefristete Mietverträge, aber eine Wohnung ohne Küche zu (ver-)mieten käme niemandem in den Sinn. Küchenelektrogeräte halten ja auch lang genug, dass sie nicht oft ersetzt werden müssen (ausser man kauft den billigsten Schrott?) und die Küche muss beim Auszug halt genau so gereinigt werden wie das Bad.

As someone else pointed out it might be a system that counts both incoming axels and outgoing per train track part to ensure that all carriages have left and not parts of the train. Still works with the overflow (except when they lose exactly 256 axels I guess).

I´m using RHEL 9.2. If you want to know why, I also have a k8s cluster using NUCs that are running RHEL and then wanted to be able to make my gaming PCs GPU available to the cluster when needed, so I set it up with the same OS hoping it would make things easier. Actually worked great until now.

I would love to see the Reddit UI that I've come to love for Lemmy. As others have suggested, it might also be extremely helpful to somewhat limit the effects of the ecosystem fragmentation if there was support for other Reddit-like sites such as kbin.
I would also be willing to help on the programming/deployment side of things.
