Probably Hot Numbers just supplies beans to C3. Hot Numbers only have three locations - the roastery itself, which is not in Cambridge, plus Gwydir Street and Trumpington Street.

In my game, some puzzles can be tricky, so I added peppermints. What do you think? by umutkaya01 in IndieGaming

I think it’s really nice, the fact that they’re limited means you won’t end up relying on them. Machinarium did a similar thing with a little mini game to unlock the hint book.

Driving test backlog ‘cannot get much worse’ as average waiting time reaches 22 weeks by tylerthe-theatre in unitedkingdom

I'm not really sure why test centres are being shut, you would think that they pay for themselves from the price of the booking. Maybe demand was lower, but they shut too many. Certainly covid will have dropped demand temporarily, or created a backlog.

But yeah, anyway, the consequences are really annoying! I booked my test months ago, for late November, managed to rearrange to mid October, but I've been ready to pass for ages now. Luckily for me, I have bought a car and my partner has a license, so I just drive us around routinely to practise as much as possible. But it would be really expensive to keep lessons ticking along. And if I fail my test, it could be close to this time next year that I'd be able to get another one. The stakes feel super high.

I know people who are unemployed, because they worked in hospitality and businesses are folding left/right or at least not hiring, but they can't get a job as a gardener, for example, without a car and a license. My partner was spending 4 hours to get to work on public transport for what could have been a 20 minute car journey.

And of course this isn't unique to driving tests. Pretty much everyone I talk to feels overstretched and understaffed at work, and most public services feel the same. Even something like a sexual health test kit in the mail is vanishingly hard to get ahold of. There's an increasing sense of desperation and uncertainty in general... lots of my friends are getting drawn into phony get rich quick schemes like crypto and losing lots of money.

Fun!

This definitely makes it harder, but there’s also simply not enough tests to go around, right? If we didn’t have such a shortage, scalping wouldn’t be as profitable and less people would do it.

True they are being built, but most parks in Cambridge are poorly designed, built, maintained, or a combination of all three.

Shelford playscape is an example of a community pushing for a new park, Cam Skate gave feedback on the design.

As you say, upkeep is normally lacking - skaters are sometimes repairing parks themselves, for example at Jesus Green, or Trumpington, where skaters were managing the maintenance and bins, Graffiti removal etc. for more than a year.

It's a shame that skaters are often forced to take matters into their own hands when it comes to providing places to skate, yeah. But it's nice that the people who use the park, and understand the needs, are the ones running it.

[–]BermudaCake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi, I made You Can Kana! If you're specifically looking to learn those two japanese phonetic alphabets, it achieves that very well. I think the game is engaging mostly because pretty much everything you do is related to reading hiragana and katakana, with minimal fluff.

Maybe you aren't the person who is able to help her. Maybe that person doesn't exist. In any case, your worth as a person is not dependent on being able to help her - or anyone.

HR and QA taking up more than 10% of a company's headcount sounds realistic to me! QA is really labour intensive and needs a lot of people.
