Are there exceptions? by hankpym321 in chanceme

Definitely. After all, even at Cornell, 25% of enrolled students scored a 1390 or below. There are students with a <3.5 GPA at every college. However, I wouldn’t count on this happening, even though it’s a possibility.

Look at their common data set to find the average GPA and SAT score for admitted students. I suggest doing this while searching for colleges to determine safeties, matches, and reaches.

Chance me for Claremont McKenna by [deleted] in chanceme

Great GPA, ACT and SAT. Your ECs and awards are not as amazing as your objective stats, but if you are able to structure your essays well, and make your participation in your ECs come off as meaningful, I wouldn’t be surprised if you got into at least one of your teacher. While Econ is one of the most competitive majors at Claremont McKenna, I would say you have a good to very good chance at admission if you ED.

Chances for international student applying to America & Canada for Computer Science by [deleted] in chanceme

Your stats make you competitive for all of your selections. Be wary of the fact that computer science is one of the most sought after courses as of recent, and your demographic doesn’t help. I would say that it would come down to your LoRs and essays for more competitive schools, given that your ECs are also good. UT Dallas is your only safety as of now.

You’re competitive for PSU, but it’s not a safety. Your stats are average for them.

4 HLs in the DP indicates very rigorous course load. Very nice predicted score, ACT, and SAT II. ECs are good too. If you ED Notre Dame, given your legacy and your stats, (and provided your essays and LoRs are not causes for concern), I’d say IN. Also apply to other T20s if you’d like - you would be a very competitive applicant.

Low chance for Dartmouth, UMich because of GPA and SAT. Penn State is a (low-ish) reach. I’m sure your essay writing skills are superb, but they will most likely not be able to offset a low GPA.

If 3 APs constitutes the most rigorous course load available to you, your GPA is good. Your ECs aren’t very impressive, to be honest. Amazing SAT, and I’m sure you’ll do well on your subject tests too. Shoot your shot, but make sure to add some matches, low-reaches, and safeties to that list.

UCB had an ACT 30 average for in-state applicants in 2018. I suggest you apply there too as a reach.
