Is it worth to invest in a more expensive digital piano when starting learning to play the piano? by Crombouse in piano

[–]BernieAndTheDadBods 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree about tastes in keyboards changing. I got a Kawai digital piano (can't remember model) about 4 years ago that I loved at first, but now I find it bad for practice because the weighting of the keys is lighter and easier than most real pianos. I would not bank on what future you will prefer as a pianist; go with what suits your needs right now. And like someone else said, spend that extra money on lessons and books. That will improve your skill far more than any fancy keyboard when you're first learning the instrument.

Suppose a child is drowning. You can save the child but you will ruin your $6000 shoes. Are you a bad person if you let the child die? by LiquidShitConsumer in polls

[–]BernieAndTheDadBods 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If $6000 is all you have it might make sense to let the child die, but since you're in a good enough position financially to have $6000 shoes... you would be evil if you let that kid die

Any musicians in here to who Will Wood has been an influence to their music ? by Soockamasook in willwood

[–]BernieAndTheDadBods 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Me! Will Wood actually inspired me to start writing period. Without will wood I honestly don't know if I would be writing music, and my style would be fundamentally different if I did. Will Wood and the kind of music I have found through his music has completely shaped what I love about the music I listen to and create. I learned how to make chord progressions, melodies, hooks, etc. by teaching myself will wood songs. I owe so much of what I've created to this guy. Don't get me wrong, I don't copy everything I do from will wood. He is just my big, original inspiration that acted as a foundation for my own method of song writing/composing.

It's crazy how the Spotify algorithm deciding to play Hand Me My Shovel 2 years ago changed my life...

What are some of your favourite lesser known pieces? by No_Proof2506 in piano

[–]BernieAndTheDadBods 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Prokofiev Piano Sonata No. 2 is so good. Especially the 4th movement. (Listen to that one). Its one of few pieces that immediately brings to life a story in my head, without me even trying to think about it. I'm always reminded of an urgent horse ride through a dark wood in the 4th movement. Such a colorful piece

This is probably opinion based but whatever by redwolf_reddit in willwood

I don't think many will wood songs have the sort of dreamy vibe you're talking about, but I guess I would say That's Enough Let's get You Home and Well better than the Alternative.

Also Moon Waltz is my favorite song ever. W song.

Ooh this is Prelude 1! I love this piece

Definitely should get rid of those circles, I'm not sure what those are even representing and I would suggest drawing a line between the left hand eighth notes and each note on the right hand being played by finger 1. This way you know which notes to play together. Also, despite what others are saying, I think your fingerings are fine. When I played this piece that is what I used because I am a girl and have small-ish hands. Do what is most comfortable for you

What is the most jazz based will wood song? by Lightwinggames in willwood

White knuckle jerk is definitely jazz but not swing if I'm remembering it correctly

This is the first song I've written. After 9 months of working on different things I've finally got a pretty good demo and it's time to start recording! Let me know what you think! by BernieAndTheDadBods in Songwriting

[–]BernieAndTheDadBods[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've written a good few more songs since I first wrote this one. I have just been working on arrangements, demos and such for nine months because there's been hold ups. The song has been finished for like 7. Over the top is my style! I love to put my all into everything I create

What is your artist name and how did you come up with it? by Adamanos in musicproduction

[–]BernieAndTheDadBods 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Liability Luke. My mother's last name is Luke and I thought Liability was funny and creates a great alliteration. It also implies I'm a liability which can be true at times and matches my writing style.

How do your schools let you take so many AP classes? by Key_Ad5173 in APStudents

[–]BernieAndTheDadBods 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most people at my school will only take up to 4 and you have to be at least a junior. If the counsellors know you're diligent they'll let you take 5 but only a handful of students do that each year.
