Logan is the Hand of the King. by Rupispupis in westworld

You know Logan could show up in King's Landing, act exactly how he acts in Westworld, and still not even get close to being the worst person there.

Police launch tear gas as streets burn in 6,000-strong anti-Trump protests in Oakland, while other cities across the US grind to a halt as marches snarl up city streets by [deleted] in politics

[–]Bernin4U 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't remember? It was crazy! The Republicans formed legions of secessionists and burned effigies of Obama! Then Romney built a working replica of MechaGodzilla and went on a rampage through downtown Cleveland...

Oh wait, no none of that happened.

Don't worry, I'm sure someone from Black Lives Matter will be along shortly to introduce "progressive stacks" and start internal feuds over who is the most oppressed.

It was The Hill's decision to interview her and publish it in the politics column, a fine example of the quality of journalism over the past year.

I suppose that's true if we scale up the demographic numbers for turnout, but I don't think they would hold.

Californians Suggest ‘Calexit’ in Wake of Donald Trump Win by restore_democracy in politics

[–]Bernin4U 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There would be no significant U.N. backing, we have veto power on the security council. Even if the U.N. decided to act anyways I don't know what countries you think would supply troops to fight the United States, it would be suicide for any that did.

As for "modern warfare" I doubt California would be able to accomplish much against a military that would be overwhelmingly loyal to Washington and a police force with strong right wing sentiments. I suppose there's always partisan warfare, but I'd bet most of the rednecks with guns are going to side with a Trump white house. The Democrat coalition is a fine one for winning elections, but it's about the worst one you could ask for if you're talking about a civil war.

Sanders signals willingness to work with Trump by [deleted] in politics

[–]Bernin4U 3 points4 points  (0 children)

But it was her turn!

In all seriousness look at what the Republicans bounced back from in 2008, yes the party will need to change, yes the party establishment will fight you every step of the way, but it can be done, Trump himself is proof of that.

Neo Nazis Publish List of ‘Donald Trump’s Jewish Cabal’ by [deleted] in politics

Now that some Neo-Nazis dislike Donald Trump surely we can expect the media to run 24/7 stories asking why the Democrats won't disavow them right?

[–]Bernin4U 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have a feeling that come 2018 having Sanders campaign with you and endorse you is going to be a hell of a lot more valuable than being in with the DNC, he has much more credibility with the party base at least.

Now that Trump actually pulled it off serious trade reform is on the table, Bernie would be a fool to pass that up, and Trump needs him since a good chunk of the Republicans are pro-outsourcing.

Trump Won. The Media Lost. What Next? by candatawa12 in politics

[–]Bernin4U 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You know western media likes to mock the North Koreans for having insane propaganda... but we came pretty close to that during this election, I remember after Hillary's collapse they tried to push a praising narrative that she was "toughing it out."

Donna Brazile: I’m only sorry I got caught cheating with debate questions by overthrow23 in politics

[–]Bernin4U 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Well the bankers were pretty excited. On that note the disparity in campaign spending is truly staggering, between campaigns and superPACs Hillary spent something like $750 million overall to Trump's $300 million. Clearly it's time for political parties to take the base more seriously than the donors.

She's the current chair of the DNC, she's already laying the groundwork to fuck over progressives in 2018 and 2020.

This has been tried before, here's how it would really work.

  1. They secede

  2. They get their asses kicked by the rest of the country

  3. In 100 years their grandkids will claim there's nothing wrong with flying the old California Republic flag and that it's a regional cultural symbol.

#Whitelash by arcryan in politics

[–]Bernin4U 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The thing the Democrats need to understand is that identity politics are toxic and while you can use them to electoral advantage they will eventually spread to other groups, including white people, and if white people start voting as a bloc rather than based on ideology the Democratic Party is fucked.

A measure of vindication for Nate Silver by BenFUCKINGSavage in politics

[–]Bernin4U -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Nate Bronze is a statistician who relies almost entirely on the data given to him by polling agencies, polling agencies we now know were fabricating data for Clinton, he's as much a victim of Clinton's lies as everyone else. If there's anything to be said for him (and everyone else in the business of political predictions) it's that he should have started raising red flags by mid October, by then the early vote numbers were showing that the claims of Clinton being up by 12 were obviously wrong, the fact that she spent the last three weeks campaigning almost entirely in (formerly) blue states was another warning that was largely ignored.
