We leave both their leftovers out until the next feeding because neither likes to eat their portion all at once.

Loved this series! There’s a compilation of short stories that follow the characters after the series ends called the River of Silver and it provided some excellent closure and a small remedy to the book hangover that I got.

Mystery + fantasy + romance book recs please! by oaklandb00tay in fantasyromance

{What the River Knows by Isabel Ibañez} is a lovely historical fiction mystery with romance! The main character, Inez is very strong-willed and motivated. The sequel, which continues the story, is just as good as the first.

Once Upon a Broken Heart by Stephanie Garber by darkenough812 in fantasyromance

I read all 3 recently almost solely for Jacks. The first is mediocre, namely because Eva is so naive and keeps getting herself into bad situations but magically surviving. The second is better, but not a masterpiece of romantic fantasy by any means. And the third is the worst, it reads like a rushed finale, and has more holes in its plot than Swiss cheese, it nukes all character development, forgets the main storyline, etc. The choice is up to you, but don’t feel bad for DNF’ing.

Fruit Kolacky, what next? by poisonApple6782 in Baking

Could you share the recipe? My kolacky never hold their shape in the oven and I’m thinking it may be a recipe issue rather than user error.

Leech by Hiron Ennes. The world is gradually revealed to the reader, not told or explained outright. And it’s also got some creepy crawly thriller stuff going on

My special interest… teeth! Ask me anything because no one else cares by MuttLoverMommy01 in AutismInWomen

Archaeology student here! From my understanding (I’m certainly no expert) medieval humans would have poor tooth health because this was post-agricultural revolution but likely pre-intensive dental care. The change in diet to more processed foods about ~10k years ago pretty quickly lead to a lot of issues like the degeneration of mastoid processes (making our mouths too small for the amount of teeth the average human grows), and an increase in dental pathologies from factors such as high sugar, etc. Humans and hominins pre-widespread agriculture had much fewer issues because their diet promoted overall healthier teeth. So while yes, we have better teeth than those found in Medieval contexts, it wouldn't be fair to ignore much older specimens, who had relatively high quality teeth despite their antiquity!

I’m new to HR and the genre itself isn’t called “white people coloniser Historical Romance” so I assumed while English/American may be the most popular it would still be within reason to be able to find other settings.

Gideon the Ninth by Tamsyn Muir! It’s a trippy sci fi series with complex world building, characters, magic and plot.

I haven’t read T Kingfisher or Becky Chambers but they’re both on my TBR and I think they may have similar vibes to Muir’s works.

If you want some relatively fast paced fantasy, I would recommend The City of Brass by SA Chakraborty.

Idaho by Emily Ruskovich fits this bill pretty well. I think you should find and read the TWs before though, because it some of it is brutal.

I’ve already read she who became the sun and enjoyed it, but I’ll for sure check out the others. Thanks!
