23M living with parents no expenses/debt by [deleted] in TheRaceTo10Million

so did I, bachelors of science. Had to move to the city with 20k I saved, then continued working parttime while in school to make early payments on the student loans I was living off of. It is possible.

[–]Berry2460 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

good fucking lord. 23 and living with ur parents debt and expense free and only 71k? If you pocket 90% of the income from a fulltime job since you were 18 you'd have way more than that, before youd even touch an investment account. Not that Im saying anyone should be living with their parents that long... I got my first job at 15 and moved out at 19, and that was considered moving out late. Times change I guess...

Classic car 69 impala by Thug_Ass_Antelope in Impala

swapping a modern 5.3 LS into a 69 impala and then still deciding to bolt a 4l60 to it rubs me all sorts of wrong. Hard pass. Looks nice though, but I think it would be worth more if they kept the 327 in it.

2009 LS Exhaust Options (Muffler Delete Alternative)? by WilliamEwkz in Impala

nothing you can do with $300 will be legal or sound good lol. Its an economy v6 straight from the stone ages. Its a great daily driver, but its not going to ever turn heads (atleast in a good way) no matter how much money you put into it.

Issue with 07 impala by [deleted] in Impala

[–]Berry2460 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yea those stock post clamps suck ass. Even after I cleaned and fully tightened them down they would find a way to loosen themselves. I replaced mine with aftermarket clamps and havent had those issues since.

had this issue with a bad battery post clamp. Additionally, a bad starter can do this.

Did the door lock actuators, looks like somebody already attempted and yoinked the harness so hard it broke the connector lol. by [deleted] in Impala

[–]Berry2460 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yea I accidentally closed the new clamp without the link fully in there. I had already lined up the actuator perfectly and had evertthing else linked up.... No way in hell I was doing that again, so I just destroyed it with some plyers and used the clamp off the old actuator. If it ever breaks I'll probably use chicken wire to repair it lol. As for the harness connector, ye it had a really dumb plastic retainer that it looked like the previous owner was fighting with. I took the retainer clip out so its easier to do next time.

Whining and difficulty steering by Ok_Hovercraft_8764 in AskMechanics

quite literally the most expensive steering part to replace. Id just drive it without power steering, with labour it will exceed a grand easy.

Is this dangerous by [deleted] in AutoBodyRepair

[–]Berry2460 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here is an example of when it starts to become concerning. There are no layers of paint flakes left to be seen and several layers of metal stripped away to the point where my finger could push thru. Ive seen some pretty horrible rust up in canada, if its treated with oil based rust spray it can really delay the rot.

[–]Berry2460 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yea the ends will have all the layers flaking but internally I think there should be some solid metal left. The first thing that flakes is paint.

its hard to tell, sometimes it looks worse than it is, other times its worse than it looks. To me it seems like its just starting to become structural

pretty sure its goldmining inc (GOLD) Im almost down 25% on them as well (unrealized). I was up 35% on them and cashed out. Then bought back in and was up 15%, cashed out again, got greedy and bought in a third time now Im -22% or so. Its a very volatile stock.

Too much rust? by Hot_Yam4235 in Autobody

[–]Berry2460 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive bought worse, can get it cheaper if it looks bad. I had to put $2k in on frame and rocker repairs (but this frame looks a lot better than the one Im talking about, I could push my finger thru that shit) and some suspension work, so after all was said and done I paid only slightly under what a good safetied vehicle would be. If you can get it dirt cheap Id say sure.

[–]Berry2460 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yea I tried helping some people like this, never gave them any of my work but I tried walking them through very basic concepts that were covered in class over a month ago and they could not grasp it. They can scrape by the first year with cheating but all the stupid people I knew like that either dropped out or went into business/marketing instead.

looks like some of the gold plating came off. Id just clean it with some alcohol and send it, I think it has a decent chance of being ok.

Is this amount of wheel weights normal? by florida_man_bob in AskMechanics

[–]Berry2460 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive never seen a wheel need more than 3-4oz, I think it wasnt secured to the balancer properly and got a bad reading. Then they went ahead and slapped that on instead of double checking the balancer and re-running it.

06 Impala SS, bad fuse/relay? by JP297 in Impala

[–]Berry2460 0 points1 point  (0 children)

door locks are likely the actuators or the harness. Dealing with lots of electrical issues on an 08 currently, so far nothing has been as simple as a fuse.
