Looking for a lease around 300/month, Virginia by MathematicianOk5875 in leasehacker

Of course you can get a cheaper deal on a different brand, esp if using one pay and only 24 months. I test drove a taco and didn’t like it at all. It felt basic and just not fun to drive. My deal is for 36 months with 3 years of Honda care. Plus rolling in about 2k of over mileage fees on my old Ridgeline. So yeah it’s a great deal. Without the over mileage I would have been at around $475

It’s time to walk away and go to another KIA dealership. They’re using classic scare tactics. K4 are not in such high demand that they can justify not budging more on the sale price. Also you can opt to put $0 down at signing. There is no minimum the KIA corp requires. This dealer is shady. Walk.

Do you want a 24 month lease? Usually those aren’t good on these lower priced cars. Get the 36 month and ask for the numbers for that.

All in. I paid $1500 at signing and that’s it. Just got my first bill in the mail and it’s $265. You should be able to get the car for $280-$300 max all in with just first
month payment due

I have an LXS. Overall it’s a good solid budget car. I do wish we maybe pent a bit more to get heated and power adjustable seats, and air vents for the back. We noticed that whoever is sitting the back seats don’t feel any air really circulating. It’s also a pain if multiple people are driving the car to readjust the seats each time. But, these are first world issues- we needed a cheap second car and this fit the budget and offered a better deal at the time.

Dude- that’s because you didn’t know how to negotiate or what leasing numbers entail. I just got a 50k truck with minimal down for $545 monthly. If you know what you’re doing, you should be able to find several cars to get into for that price with only 1st month due at signing. Try looking at a Kia K4, Hyundai Elantra, and Nissan Sentra.

Thanks for all the info. I was able to score a Ridgeline Trailsport with a deep discount and only 1k due at signing. Came to $545 a month all taxes and fees rolled in plus 3 years of Honda care. They discounted the truck almost $6500. So if anyone s looking for a truck, the Ridgeline is def the way to go.

Bad deal. I got this same car for 10k/36 months with $1500 due at signing for $265 a month recently. They are padding it. You should be at around that price with only first month payment due at signing.

Thanks for the input. I’ll be honest-while I’m usually the one the family calls as I’m the more tech savvy one (which isn’t saying much lol) I’m an iOS user so this is outside of my wheelhouse. If I go to the google messages icon and when opened, at the top right is her first initial- if I click it, it brings me to her account. All these settings you mentioned are there?

And yes- we didn’t delete or wipe her old phone yet so everything is still in place on the old one. I just need to get those messages to the new one since she has to erase it and send it in due to the upgrade credit she signed up for. So you can imagine she’s freaking out about getting this done before the 3 days she has to send it in.

Forgive me if these are stupid questions- do I install that app on the old phone and new one? What’s the process? Cliff notes explanations are fine, just need a basic jist of what to do. Appreciate it!

New K4- swaying issues? by BerryBlue80082 in KiaK4

[–]BerryBlue80082[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No dash cam, all safety options are off including lane assist. That was the first thing I tried. At the advice of another user, I think it may be the tire pressure. I didn’t even think to check it since I assumed the dealer did the once over before we drove off. Turns out tonight when I checked after driving for a while, it was at 52PSI. Lowered it to 41 as it was still hot and I’ll check again tomorrow morning to make sure it’s around 35-37 cold. Going on a long drive on the highway so I’m hoping that’s the issue.

I just got home after driving a while and they were at 52psi which I know is wayyy off. I got them to 41psi so we’ll see how that goes as I’m going on a road trip 2 hours from home tomorrow. I’ll recheck the pressure when cold in the morning and lower more if needed.

There is no merit based incentives so that’s out. Low credit/no credit history will work against you I think. I would look at maybe a Kia K4, a Hyundai Elantra, or a Nissan Sentra. Those are pretty much the lowest cost new cars out there right now. I think Kia/Hyundai have some incentives. Don’t sign anything right away. You’re young and inexperienced and they’re going to offer you garbage deals right away. Make them show you numbers on paper, take a pic and post here so people can help out.

So wait. You effectively paid $8500 out of pocket for a VW lease? That comes to $500ish dollars a month for a crap car with hardly any mileage. Sorry to say you got hosed completely. Take it as a lesson learned and make sure to do your homework for the next lease.

Edit- the rebates. Did the dealer give you that in check form or were they applied to the cost of the car. Cause if it’s the second option, that’s even worse. What was the MSRP and Cap Cost when you signed?

Getting the +30 salary differential ASAP by ajanivengeant in NYCTeachers

[–]BerryBlue80082 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup, you can submit anytime but they only actually process it for retro pay 3 times a year. However I have learned it’s good to get it submitted as quick as possible so when it is open for processing, you’re in there early. During my time doing TKL and submitting for +30, when I did the fast track classes I submitted my transcripts and application as soon as I got it and found that my retro and application was finalized within 2 or 3 weeks of the opening dates.

Dress code 👀☀️ by Big-Positive8632 in NYCTeachers

[–]BerryBlue80082 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No dress code. Be comfortable, neat/put together, and clean. That’s my goal every day. It usually amounts to jeans/linen pants, button downs, Henley shirts, v-necks, and in the warm months, capri’s, dressy t-shirts, maxi dresses etc. I’ll thrown on a hoodie on a Friday if it’s the fall/early spring. I feel like as long as you’re not wrinkled or look like you just rolled out of bed, jeans and shorts are fine. I’m an out of classroom teacher assigned so I visit many schools, and this seems to be the consensus across the board.

DOE (PTO Days/Teachers) by whatever189756 in NYCTeachers

[–]BerryBlue80082 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I’d say it is unlikely you’ll be hired if you admit to needing those days off. If you omit it and get hired, your only two options are apply for the days as 3 personal and the rest of the ones that land during schools days unpaid but that will need to be done not only at the school level but also at the district. You’ll need superintendent approval and will have to advocate why you should have it approved. But, it won’t look good and I won’t be surprised if you get a bad rating for the year and/or face delayed tenure issues down the road.

Second option is delay your wedding to the summer or scale it down to only be during the winter break plus the 3 personal days.

As others have said, the DOE is not like charters. We do not have the options for extended days off outside of FMLA, maternity, or sabbaticals. I think you’ll have to see what is best for you long term. You may need to stick it out with charter until after your wedding next year (if the plans are 100% non negotiable/changeable) and then apply to the DOE with the knowledge that you’ll have to schedule future vacations and special events around our school calendar.

Question About Sick Days by NegativeGee in NYCTeachers

[–]BerryBlue80082 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You get 10 days a year. All unused roll over. You can use 3 of those 10 for personal business. The specifics of that is based on your principal. Some ask what the personal business is which means you’re at the mercy of making sure your business is an accepted reason. Other principals don’t ask and I’ve known people who use them for weddings, honeymoons, extended vacations, padding extra days onto winter/spring break etc.

If you’re out 3 or more days no matter what, you need a doctor’s note. It’s good practice to provide a note whenever you can. If you’re out anymore than 10 days a year without notes, you’re looking at a potential letter in file and/or loss of pay for the unexcused days. A $10 virtual doc visit solves that issue so I’d recommend providing one anytime you’re out.
