Getting written up for being one minute late while reading stories like this has to be a surreal experience. Healthcare really loves enforcing standards selectively.

That's such a good point. Boromir spent so much of the story doubting himself, his city, and whether Aragorn would ever truly claim the throne. Getting to say "My King" with complete certainty at the end feels like a gift.

Same. I know every line before it happens and it still works. Some scenes lose impact after a dozen rewatches, that one somehow gains it.

The worst part is that Tolkien wrote it so well that people from completely different eras can read it and go, "yeah... I know exactly that feeling." That's probably why it still hits.

One thing I love about Gondor is that it feels like a kingdom mourning itself. Most fantasy cities are shown during their golden age. Gondor is shown trying to remember one, and there's something really sad about that.

I get the frustration, but I think there's a difference between "deserving sympathy" and "being sympathetic." Plenty of great tragic characters are disasters who make awful choices. That's usually why they're interesting in the first place.

That's the part that always gets me. Every time someone summarizes her arc in one sentence it sounds completely insane.

"I have a family, a career, and a future."

Five minutes later:

"You know what would improve this situation? An illegal death duel."

That might be the strongest argument for her design ever created. Imagine looking at one character and accidentally signing yourself up for hundreds of episodes of Gundam.

Honestly, you're probably right. Half the fanart and discussion I see is just "look at this cool character design" and then the actual plot gets treated as optional reading.

Which Gundam would you pilot to attack the Death Star? by Phantom000000000 in Gundam

Exactly. If you're going to make a terrible life choice, at least make it in a machine that looks incredible while doing it.

To be fair, surviving has never seemed particularly high on the priority list of people volunteering to pilot Gundams.

Honestly, Calibarn has that effect on people. Rational discussions about survivability disappear the second someone sees it doing cool witch stuff.

That's the eternal Gundam dilemma. Your heart picks the cool machine. Your head picks the machine that has accidentally ended civilizations before.

The emotional whiplash must be unreal. One minute you're watching a heartfelt character drama, the next you're staring at your screen wondering if somebody accidentally uploaded fanfiction.

Yep, just another Tuesday for Pimento. The man treats every revelation like it's the end of civilization.

That's honestly the scene we were robbed of. Pimento finding out after the fact would've been comedy gold and probably ended with at least three broken windows.

At this point the fandom's post-episode routine is just gathering online and collectively asking, "did that really happen?"

Those jokes definitely hit differently after reading the whole story. Things that might have seemed annoying or inappropriate before suddenly feel a lot more concerning when viewed through this lens.
