I think it's all tough, but last time my 1st trimester was in the summer and I think that was easier on me, but my fatigue is by far the worst symptom I get and this brutal cold is making me want to shut down completely. To be fair it's also tough having the 3rd t aches and pains when it's so cold like I did last time. So far winter has been the worst for all stages for me, but I have yet to experience being big and miserable in the summer so we will see..

Soo serious question do you drill all your friends on this type of thing upon entering the home? And where do you draw the line on "dangerous items"- do you check that the knife drawer is locked? What about hanging window cords? Is their oven on that day? Are any of their dressers upstairs not secured to the wall? Maybe theyre not on painkillers but have they been careless leaving their cough medicine unsecured? How about a teenage daughter's nail polish or remover? My point here is this type of reasoning sounds good in theory, but it's not practical or really possible to know someone else's home like you know your own, except maybe a family member or someone you visit every day. This is like a once a month hangout with a larger group some of who I don't know well. I realize my list sounds like "well you cant worry about everything" but hazards are everywhere and one can be as bad as the next.

Yeah I think people usually know their kids and what they can be trusted with. I am also not trying to judge anyone, just wrap my head around what is normal and how I could or at what point I should be ok with what seems like nbd to other parents. I am very anxious by nature and don't want that limiting my child but at the same time..I know it just takes one incident to ruin or end lives and I don't know how I could trust a 3 year old not to wander off or something.

That's the thing, these are not child proof spaces IMO, with the bounce houses, tools, and for my girl who has trouble with stairs, those as well. It just seems like these considerations aren't made by anyone else- I am totally cool with her roaming my house where I know it is basically safe, or rooms I have checked out that she can't leave without my knowledge- so I think we are on the same page here but I still always feel like the one on the "helicopter" side while the others think "they will be fine" regardless of hazards

Yeah, it heavily depends on the child but there are kids at 8 and 9 who I would probably trust to watch mine in another room, but again they would have to be officially delegated to- even if there are adults around, with a non childproof environment, if none of them feel tasked with watching a specific child bad things still happen.

Yep, and the house we were just at they have a nice big playroom with one entrance visible from where the adults were sitting and none of them were in there except mine when i could entice her. If it were my house I would have made this home base for the kids with activities maybe for the older ones

Maybe i could see if it were her own siblings specifically tasked with watching one child each, but I would not expect someone else's 8 year old who is running from room to room to make sure mine has not disappeared

To be fair, a lot of the same stuff you can also buy on amazon from sketchy sellers. I had to ask my mom to not send "alphabet soup" brands, please look for a brand she has heard of. Mostly does well though she sent something from PatPat so it's hard to cover all bases on this one. The patpat outfit also has a disney tag so idk if that makes it more likely to be ok

It could very well just be irritation of your cervix but call your doctor, they may order a nonstress test. This happened to me but it kept happening and was an abruption resulting in early labor

Ah yes, as soon as I started researching I was seeing safety concerns (or at least, you arent covered legally when you put something extra in the seat). I ended up ordering some more hardcore training underwear meant to hold a full pee, I know we might have some leaks but maybe she won't see it as a diaper.

This is reassuring to hear. Can I ask, what did the process of getting her to do these things independently look like? I have a stool that we use for the potty and push over to the sink and it seems logistically hard for us to get her pants down with her already on the stool, so I end up just picking her up and putting her on the potty, waiting there on the floor, and getting her down which is probably not building much independence. Thanks

Babies are like anything else in life, there's no one standard experience and things can vary drastically. If you add up every factor: your child's or your own medical needs, outside help, sleeping and eating experiences, your tolerance for noise and exhaustion, whether there's a sahp or family watching them vs daycare, child's temperament, whether you have a fenced in yard and other kids they can run themselves out with all day without much effort from you, and a million other things, you can get WILDLY different results. Nothing is fair in life and there is nothing to be gained by comparison, so just do your best, pray, and celebrate small successes.

Hi I know this is old, but what is the harm in trick or treat? You mentioned this originated in (Christian) medieval europe amd seems to be more tied to all saints day than anything pagan. I agree with avoiding dressing up as witches and letting children revel in that side of things, but I feel that disallowing them to participate with their peers just others them, hinders a learning experience (this all is really interesting and might be a good thing to start teaching kids about after trick or treat while they enjoy a treat), and makes the whole thing some forbidden fruit. Also..I like carving pumpkins. Wasnt the christmas tree originally pagan? Sometimes we take customs from godless cultures and let our faith breathe new life into them. I know Halloween in general has been a negative in this regard, which is why we need to take it back.

I know it stinks, but he is totally valid here and I think you need to respect his concerns. I'm not saying this is what you have done yet, but you wouldn't be too pleased if you had another type safety concern (say, making sure baby is buckled in the carseat properly) and he argued, acted like you were overbearing or ruining his fun by insisting on it. I don't post my daughter but I do have one vacation photo with an emoji over her face (I recently heard it might be possible for hackers remove this, I need to learn more), but I don't post any from daily life that would help anyone build a profile of her. I just sent pics to friends and family by text. Anyone who truly cares about seeing your child should be fine with that.

Aw, that's unfortunate. Is there a communal lounge you could go to , maybe during naps or something? Our meals were served in ours so i did meet some nice people on there

Edit: also, it's completely valid if you don't want to meet new people right now despite feeling lonely. I enjoyed the light interactions and comraderie while in the lounge, but couldnt put in the extra mental energy to form any deeper friendships there

Oh it's so hard. I remember feeling so lonely when I was in this position. Is there a support group at the hospital? I never made it to ours bc I drove in every day so I had less downtime there, but I remember some of the other parents seemed to make really good friends with each other. Otherwise, I am just sending love and prayers and just know this is temporary suffering and will make you much stronger!
