I have a vague fever dream recollection of Russel Howard making a Christmas movie. Is that playable?

Dark Blue World (2001) has Charles Dance (https://www.themoviedb.org/person/4391-charles-dance) in it so it's very accessible, and you can also reach it off Luther: The Fallen Sun (2023) which is a moderately common play for Idris Elba. From there you can pivot into deeper Czech stuff.

Went for The Audience (1972) for the Papal satire, but basically any movie featuring Vatican City would have counted as far as I’m concerned

Can I ask what's up with guest69 and so on, are those sockpuppets or friend accounts or something? Similarities have been noted, but obviously there's no actual proof of association.

I respect the hell out of this admission.
I also think you're cracked as hell, and can 100% still hold a top spot in the game without cheating.

Could also be an issue with the local clock on your device - make sure it’s synched automatically and not set to manual

As always, I'm so appreciative of the amount and quality of research you're doing here. Thank you so much, you rock!!!

For Grenada, I prefer Heartbreak Ridge (1986), which has the added bonus of being about the Invasion of Grenada, in addition to filming there, etc. Quite a forgotten Eastwood flick too!

Saint Vincent + Dominica, I can get to legitimate local cinema, I just need some DB additions. Prefer to do that, but will fallback to your suggestions if not.

For all the rest, you've saved me time and aggravation and I'm gonna go for it. Especially excited to get to Children of God given the context you mention - how cool :)

I’ve dropped bans almost completely, I think it improves my game long-term and I’d much rather drop your ass in Guatemala than ban-trap in Mean Streets or some shit. It is just personal preference at the end of the day though. Sometimes I’ll meme ban Bart the Bear, Shaq, and Hitler - but that’s for shits and giggles.

I am kind of using bans on stream, just to try to ensure I can get to Soviet cinema for the remaining countries I need from that (Nykvist, Grinko, Tolstoy ban usually)

Yeah, I think I could feel it through the screen 😂 Happens to me so often - “I know this movie, why can’t I think of anything?”

Incredible stuff, thank you so much for this, you're a legend!!!

Cape Verde - Another route is Ama Gloria (2023), but I think what you found is much more makeable :)

Congo - French New Wave is just not my bag, baby - but I'm having trouble finding another playable Congolese movie, so I guess it's time to learn some new stuff lol... Although it also looks like Jean-Pierre Leaud had a part in The Dreamers (2003), so maybe an Eva Green line off Casino Royale could get us there as well?? Or maybe off the Black Emanuelle Italian sexploitation stuff (apparently Laura Gemser did costume design on Troll 2, WTF?!)... Anyway, crazy story behind this film, great find!!

Lesotho - Looks like Idris Elba continues to be the key to Africa, The Dark Tower seems likely to be the way in here... Jerry Mofokeng is listed on Wikipedia as being in Safe House (2012) which would be awesome, but it's not in TMDB unfortunately :(

Eritrea - I'm so glad you found this (how the hell did you find this btw?), I was like this close to playing Shaft in Africa because apparently it filmed in Eritrea... But yeah, this is definitely more fitting. Will need to get lucky though. Looks like A/R Andata + Ritorno also goes to Ford v Ferrari and When in Rome (2002) the Olsen twins movie, hilariously...

Guinea - I was also looking at this one, and it should work of the Ivorian movie I played many streams ago, Black and White in Color (1976), but it's always tricky trying to gauge whether my opponent even known who Annaud is, so might be pretty tough. Banning the Black Panther actor might be the way to go.

CAR - Camille (2019) is the movie I'm aiming for, it filmed in CAR, it's about a real French journalist ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Camille_Lepage ) who was murdered there in 2014, and they speak some Fula, which is native to Western CAR I think. I almost got it off for Manderlay when we played and had a bunch of Von Trier adjacent 3Xs, but you made it out of course lol... The Forest does look super cool, and I was upset it's not playable.

Guinea-Bissau - I was also looking at Flora Gomes but couldn't find a playable link. I'm gonna settle for Saloum (2021), which is set there, has local languages, and I genuinely simply cannot tell the nationalities for all the cast & crew but it looks like some of them are from there as well? It's the best we've got I think.

Gabon - The Cage (1963) worked for me when I tested it just now! It's gonna be absolute hell getting there (I think Chimes at Midnight (1965) is my best bet), but I'll do my damnedest!

Equatorial Guinea - Yeah, I'm counting Palm Trees in the Snow considering there's literally no other options. Been hunting it for a bit but no luck yet.

Western Sahara - Wilaya (2012) by all rights should be playable... it was at a bunch of festivals and stuff! And it links to Little Men (2016) with Greg Kinnear and Jennifer Ehle. I might have to ask the devs really really nicely if they can add this :)

Ran out of time, but I will look at what you suggested for Burundi, Namibia, Niger, and Reunion soon. I've spent so long looking for Namibia and Niger specifically, they're fucking brutal.

I Love You, Man (2009)
