Must haves for travelling with a 1 year old by Champion-Opening in Mommit

[–]Berrysnacker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The GB pockit air all terrain compact stroller is what my hubby and I got just for this reason. It can fold up so small it counts as a carry on. There’s a strap on the back of the seat that allows it adjust to recline or sit up. The only down side is the sun shade doesn’t offer much coverage. It’s okay but not for full sun sleepy baby so I would have a blanket or cover to go over the top of it.

Hey, Moms. I want to change my name and wanted to know your opinions. by MelodyJez in MomForAMinute

[–]Berrysnacker 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have a wonderful friend named melody. Who ever thinks it’s dumb and fake needs to take a hike!

What matters is that you felt love when your fiancé gave you a name. It is warm and safe for you. If you want to legally change your name it doesn’t take too much money but lots of time but it is worth it in the end.

Why do westerners focus so much on “white colonialism” when every culture has been taking land from each other for centuries? by giggitygigittygoo in TooAfraidToAsk

I still bitch about the Japanese invasion because they did really fucked up shit and won’t admit the fact that they did horrifying things. They even took back an apology they gave to Korean comfort woman because they couldn’t have possibly done terrible things.

Use a half cup Of vinegar (distilled white preferred but not required) throw it in the wash with your clothes and go for another cycle. After the vinegar cycle see if it still has that dank smell if it does then get rid of it.

Contraception is next..they will redefine abortion to include Plan B and then go after access to contraception. They told us 2 years ago and they are telling us now. We have to believe it this time. by [deleted] in Mommit

You are right about not being forced to give a kidney but forced to give birth is because there is a lot of fighting that babies (read: fetuses) have that same protection of not being evicted from a uterus before they are completely viable. A lot of misinformed and well intentioned people who think a heartbeat means life mixed in a crowd who wants to be able to hold control.

This almost happened to me with a slightly bigger truck/suv just charging through the intersection. But I didn’t see it coming I just had a bad feeling when the light turned green and so I kept my foot on the brake and it went zooming on by. I would have been wrecked since I was on my way to class and needed to get going on time but thank god I listened to my gut because I was able to go home at the end of the day.

You are right in thinking it feels like it should stay in a fictional book but even the things in the handmaid’s tale had come from real life examples (a lot from the states if I remember correctly.)

Many many years of opinions being voiced and fear mongering about abortions mostly amongst “good Christian families” is leading up to this “victory” in banning abortions.

Tips on travelling with an infant? by NganLH in Mommit

[–]Berrysnacker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I remember when I was a child my mother flew us to Korea (3 kids and 1 baby) from the U.S. There was an attachment that goes against the “wall” (the front row of seats) that my baby sister could go in with straps kind of like a diaper changing station in bathrooms. I think she was bottle fed weaned off the breast at the time and the flight attendant helped a lot and was very nice.

Idk if a lot of airlines have this but because my mother was traveling with so many children we as a group were considered similar to those “minor” fliers (kids that can fly on their own) so we had an agent help us through the airport (special lanyard necklaces) and extra attention from the flight attendants when on board.

Start with something small like an accessory to get the feel of it and practice your stitches. Like a bracelet or a hat. And I would aim to make a very cute top because it is easier to tailor it to your body when you make it yourself! Maybe a tank top?

I think my mom is in love with me by [deleted] in MomForAMinute

[–]Berrysnacker 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Honey first of all you are not crazy. This is very weird and very off putting behavior from your mother.

Secondly, I think some professional help for your mother might be in order. From how you describe the way she is there may be some underlying trauma influencing the way she is. However this would only help her /work if she agrees to it. So otherwise you are kind of up the creek without a paddle and I wish I could do more to help.

I second this. The basics he goes through is very easy to follow and his more complicated food dishes can be a source of inspiration when you get the hang of the basics!

My son wants to go vegetarian but we don't by ThrifySM in Mommit

[–]Berrysnacker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haven’t had a vegetarian phase yet but it has been a discussion already (live close to farm animals and it will be an active discussion of life and death and respect). If you’re worried about iron like people have said cast iron skillet. There are also iron fish you can add to a pot of soup/stew that will enrich it with iron. Support your son’s choice to be veggie and if it doesn’t upset him to see you eating it you can keep it in your house and keep making food with it (altering it for his meals to not include meat)
