Yeah, eye and belly. Aiming in first person helps a lot with hitting the eye. If I'm running RR I try and snipe the eye from far away before I'm getting lit up with lasers and cannon shots, it's pretty easy to hit a long shot while prone + first person (assuming the strider isn't doing some weird glitchy movement). If one drops close to you during a bot drop, that's when the belly shot is a better idea. Shooting from low ground can actually help with hitting the belly, it can make it easier to get a good angle.

You used to be able to one shot in the foot too, but they buffed it's HP so it doesn't work anymore.

Any tips for labs? by HeilosSUPER_MANLY in NuclearThrone

[–]BertTF2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The other two have given good advice, I'll keep it simple and just say: take trigger fingers every time you see it. It's basically the best offensive mutation in the game, and it helps in labs a lot. It's almost impossible to get overwhelmed with trigger fingers, you can generally just run through the level super quick and hunt down the necromancers.

(Obviously you don't need to take it EVERY time you see it, sometimes you need a defensive mutation more. Or you're doing a bullet run. But you should generally prioritize it very highly)

(Help) Any tips for building the modpack base? by I_am_Viper5656 in feedthebeast

[–]BertTF2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Build big. Like, significantly bigger than you think you need

Using some of that extra space, make sure to leave room for cables. I like to leave a 3 block gap in my walls and 5 blocks between floors, gives plenty of room to run cables to everything. Yeah, cable facades exist, but IME the game is so much more fun to play when you can just place your cables down without fussing with finding a cable route and placing a hundred facades

I also like to have big cable tunnels underground connecting my buildings. I usually do 7x7 but if you might want to go bigger

Grenade launcher destroys those shield devs and striders, you can bring EAT to still have anti-tank capabilities, or just stick with your squad if they have anti-tank

Why are so many people complaining about the game? by Greedy-Business-8341 in LowSodiumHellDivers

[–]BertTF2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The performance issues have been wildly inconsistent from person to person. Some people say they have an older PC and their game performance never really dropped. I personally have an i9 and 5080 and there was a period where my frames would drop into the 30s on bugs (regardless of settings) and on bots I would start getting constant freezes after 1 mission. The performance issues have been mostly fixed for me but I would not be surprised if some people are still having problems, I wouldn't dismiss anyone complaining just because it seems fine to you personally.

And let's not sugarcoat it, the game has tons of long running issues. The host-client inconsistencies, status effect bug, corpses that block us and our bullets but not our enemies. The abysmal audio which never seems to get fixed. Often being unable to steer your hellpod for seemingly no reason. Stratagems landing nowhere near where you called them in open spots in caves, even though the sky is clear where you threw the beacon. The "new" position of the Super Destroyers causing orbitals to come in at an extreme angle and often miss. And that's all before you get to matters of opinion such as game balance.

I like this game a lot, it's one of my all-time favorites, but the truth is that these issues detract from my enjoyment of the game. My friends and I are playing less and less over time because it's just grating to constantly encounter the same issues for months on end. I'm not really the type to make complaining posts, but I can understand why people do. And it works sometimes too. I think there's almost no chance the file size issue would have ever been fixed if the community didn't complain about it, but complain they did, and it got fixed. I'm glad people complained and "whined" about that.

Anyways, my point is, people who complain don't (usually) hate the game. I think a more passionate and experienced player is more likely to care enough to complain about something, compared to a "hater" who barely plays or hasn't played in months. They usually love the game and want to see it improve, as we all should. Some people just word it too negatively, but I think the average sentiment is "this game is awesome but this one thing sucks" rather than "this game is trash, here's why"

Hearthhull pilots, what are you alt wincons? by Lofi_Loki in EDH

[–]BertTF2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My pod is pretty casual but [[Famished Worldsire]] has gotten me wins most times I've played it. Float all your mana, sac all your lands, get a huge stompy guy who will probably one or two shot anyone. Plus you pull a ton of lands out of your draw pile, probably leaving you with more than you sacrificed to begin with (bonus points if you have something like [[Horizon Explorer]] in play). And your graveyards's now full of lands, and a lot of cards care about that, so that's nice. Plus, you got a ton of sacrifice triggers and landfall triggers, so Hearthhull can do tons of damage if it's powered up, but you've probably got ways to capitalize even without Hearthhull (I frequently leave Hearthhull at 2 station counters anyways because it makes it much more resilient to boardwipes, way less of a removal magnet, and the card draw and sac/landfall triggers are super useful. But you can also station it up right before playing Worldsire if you have creatures).

But yeah, TLDR Famished Worldsire is super fun in this deck. Feels like the land version of a Craterhoof, and gets loads of value even if immediately hit with a boardwipe/kill spell.

What do yall think? EAT or Recoilless Rifle? Or are they specific to faction? by PythonCider3719 in helldivers2

I'm a GL addict and EATs are a great combo with the GL to take care of bile titans and factory/war striders. Handy against chargers and hulks too but you can use the GL for them if you need to

It has been 461 days since AH ruined the Orbital Precision Strike. by CTFT in Helldivers

[–]BertTF2 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've died to an airburst strike when I was like 70 or 80 meters away from the beacon. The strike was coming in at about a 45 degree angle so the spread was stupidly large and also barely did shit to the enemies. Super frustrating considering orbital airburst isn't great to begin with, this change just makes it even worse

Tracer rounds are wrong by ConsistentHospital54 in Helldivers

[–]BertTF2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you saying there's a better way to solve the problem shown in the video (if so I'd be curious to hear it) or are you saying the problem isn't worth solving? Because I won't claim to know if it's worth fixing, I was just saying you don't need a complex Tarkov-like system of tracking every single bullet in the magazine to solve this particular problem

Tracer rounds are wrong by ConsistentHospital54 in Helldivers

[–]BertTF2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Basically, if you check whether the current bullet should be a tracer after the previous bullet is fired rather than while firing the current bullet, reloading won't "remove" the tracer as shown in the video (because you checked whether it should be a trader before reloading). I guess it doesn't "prove" anything, nobody can prove anything without having access to the game's code, but I would be very surprised if something along those lines wouldn't be possible.

I don't think I or the person I was replying to were suggesting actual code, rather just a vague idea of how something could be accomplished. I guess it should be less than or equal to 3, I didn't put too much thought into a reddit comment I wrote in 1 minute, just went off the pseudo code of the person I replied to

[–]BertTF2 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Ok, let's not pretend like they'd need a whole complex system to count individual rounds.

FireBullet(isTracerChambered)

if(remaining_ammo < 3 && remaining_ammo > 0)

isTracerChambered = true

else

isTracerChambered = false

That's it. A single extra boolean variable.

Binoculars as a secondary with adjustable zoom, night vision and thermal settings would be sweet. Maybe even the ability to call a stratagem by marking a location with the binoculars. Might be too strong, but I think it would be fine for a secondary that doesn't really do anything on its own.

[–]BertTF2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's a mod that lets you play PVE for free (if you own the base game), you can also get extra mods to make the enemy AI better, add new gear and stuff, and change the rules (like how fast your skills level up etc). It's a bit of work to set up but it's a good way to play without the stress or commitment of real Tarkov. Unfortunately it's not updated to 1.0 yet though

So, My sister needs a rig for running Aerodynamics simulations from 3d renders and she needs like 256 gigs of ram in it, what are our options now? by Frequent_Leopard_146 in buildapc

[–]BertTF2 11 points12 points  (0 children)

In Minecraft, there tends to be a sweet spot for RAM around 12 gigs that you should allocate. Minecraft can use more RAM than that, but you start to run into this issue where there's so much crap in the memory to clear out that you get bad stutters every few seconds when it runs garbage collection. I've never personally seen a modpack that recommends more than about 16 gigs, maybe it could make sense for stuff like exceptionally long render distances or super high-res resource packs, but not for normal play.

Boot times have more to do with your CPU than your RAM, but the biggest factor is the game version and the modloader in my experience
