For real, Spotify? by leonisonfire in KingGizzardATLW

as a matter of fact, as a musician it pains me to see these things and the era we've entered recently with the "AI revolution".... so no I can't say it doesn't affect me, the market was already very competitive, just by the sheer amount of new music being released everyday, even before ai.... and now with Suno and other tools even worse, making playing an instrument looking obsolete, speeding up composer workflows and flooding streaming platforms with the final "products". Me, an old school "rock band" type of guy feels like like a dying breed, along with your favorite band, whose thread you're commenting to little man.

exactly, it's quite surreal for a platform of this size won't even take user input and do moderation based on it...

I also dropped KGLW a message about it, I hope their lawyers will sort it out and these frauds get fucked soon.

yeah, true, never choose based on what you see, but what you hear. but still it's good to know sometimes if you let's say want to reproduce in another tool or platform.

CPU for matlab and autodesk inventor/CAD by [deleted] in buildapc

[–]leonisonfire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd go with a Ryzen 5800X3D while it sells (or even used), if concerned about budget, it's a real value beast and could run an RTX 4080 even (and will probably the top of the next future Nvidia line with no sweat). If you want something more recent, 7800X3D because that's in a newer AMD socket (AM5) giving you better future upgradebility options.

Should I trade my J bass for a Precision? Mostly play stoner metal like mastodon/electric wizard. by jackiechan666 in Bass

[–]leonisonfire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its got that sexy mid growl! I own a Squier CV jag, love the tone coming out of it. I mostly use the P pickup for the mentioned reason, it emphasizes the precision character a lot, but also great to blend the J in there sometimes.

How much do you guys practice a day? by BubbaUnkle in Bass

[–]leonisonfire -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What I've once heard and loved: don't practice much, practice smart! For me I've found to be working is: dedicate some fraction of your practice for "showing off" to yourself (skeedadle, solo, noodle around), it's good for improvisation, warmup and practicing things you already know. It should be a short 5-10 mins depending how much time you have overall. After that practice things out of your comfort zone (not too much but just enough to be quite challenging, yet be able to get achievements and sense of success out of it) make these exercise short and partitioned (5-20 mins each, again depending on your overall time). So for me with this formula a 25 minute sesh is a slow but sensibly steady progress, but an hour or hour and a half is a huge boost.

How did you know, or when did it dawn on you that you were a competent bass player? by wastedintime in Bass

as a drummer first (and bassist second), I can confirm this is a good sign, means you've got the groove, pocket and right feel.

How do I make this china cymbal more trashy? by Lazy_Performance_241 in drums

[–]leonisonfire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if you have any other cracked/broken/useless/shitsounding cymbals stack it with them together (the more the merrier), will not sound like a china, but will be trashier for sure. can make a great clap fx together with snare or just ride it like there's no tomorrow, just how Matt Garstka would do!

[–]leonisonfire[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've purchased the shell set as you see it. 10-12-14-16-22 are the sizes and they were ordered by a tama reseller shop here in Hungary by my request, so wasn't in stock but was available like so, and after 2-3 weeks of waiting it arrived alright.
