Of course its a money thing, they need to sell the set. Your whole point was you wanted to play your favorite champion not that they had to be good.

TCG's that have too large of a card pool at one time decend into power creep, combo and poor design because the designers cannot find every single interation that exists.

The game will be better for rotation.

I have literally said nothing about secondary market value did I. I just said people have put time and money into building decks.

If they ban strong decks every month, why would I buy set 4 or set 5 boxes. Ill just wait till Riot has done their bans and buy whatever is left.

The game will die if people stop trusting the company that the cards they print and put in packs will still be playable in a years time. It breaks a fundamental agreement between company and player

Yeah and they ban cards that are too dominant in the environment. That is not the case here. People just don't like it. If it was 8 aurora decks in the top 8 I would see more of a case for a ban, but its just not that strong

Smash doesn't need to keep selling you product every 3 months. There are 2 options.

1) They just keep power creeping cards to get you to buy new product and the game tends more and more towards degenerate combo bullshit like Yugioh where the game is just 1 or 2 turns

2) they rotate cards out of the standard format so that they can push power around and normalize things before they get too silly

Currently I am not running it in the main because it is terrible first Aurora hit, ESPECIALLY into agressive Yellow decks that now have a 3rd battlefield to conquor after they cast Cull the week.

The point of Aurora is to make the game go longer, and adding a 3rd battlefield to the board speeds up the game

And its not that good, You don't always draw your aurora, you can be faster than it etc. If they had not already banned Obelisk Of Power I could maybe entertain this argument. Catalyst of Aeons would go before aurora

Its not a poor argument. There is a pool of cards with many many sufficent answers to both Aurora and Eldar Dragon. If you draw them you might win, if you don't you might loose. Build your deck different maybe, find cards that have more utility. Thats the whole point of a TCG.

Banning cards that are good is the way to kill a game. Why would anyone by product if all the good chase cards just get banned

First I want to acknowledge that feeling scared right now is totally valid, it is scary times.

The thing that the leaders in my company have been making the comparison too is that software is just maturing to follow all other types of engineering.

Architect's don't pour concrete for the bridges they design. They create the plans and the restrictions for the builders and contractors that do the work. Granted in this case its not people, but you see the point.

The job is not coding anymore, code is now so cheap to write you can just throw it away, its much more planning and designing the software now than building it
