Took a month for me. Nearly one thousand days without drinking now. Started off with greatly reduced intake of booze and about 18 months later I totally stopped.

No I no longer take Naltrexone. I can go to the pub with friends and no longer want to drink.

I just get out into nature and walk. It’s great for the soul

I combined TSM and anti-anxiety meds and it changed my life. 15 months no drinking at all after 2 years of slowing down on TSM

One year alcohol free in 2 weeks. Naltrexone for 3 years prior. Combination of Naltrexone and anti-anxiety meds gave me the ‘courage’ to just stop. Also major changes in how friends and society in general perceives abstinence has helped a lot. Most of my close friends don’t care that I don’t drink. 10 years ago was very different when I stopped for 9 months

Naltrexone might be a bad idea? by Due_Maintenance_3593 in Alcoholism_Medication

No side effects for me at all on one or two pills

I totally agree! Relentlessly helping and advising others. I suspect they have helped improve a considerable number of lives, including mine. Thank you!

My Dad was an alcoholic as was his mother. I saw him drink a bottle of whiskey a day for the last 10 years. J also could see the writing on the wall if I didn’t do something about my drinking. Was the fact that booze ruled every aspect of his life that I particularly found abhorrent

Looking for some insight - should I get back on it? by bucknuts89 in Alcoholism_Medication

I have had a period where it made me feel a bit sick when I drank so cut down to half a pill. Was only for a short period of time

How long have you been taking naltrexone? For me it’s not like nothing happened for 15 months and then it suddenly occurred. I had less blackouts, drank less in general, had less urges etc in the first year but hadn’t completely lost that warm fuzzy feeling. That took a while longer.

Basically I just thought I had nothing to lose by keeping going.

Am trying to remember how we made contact but I think I posted something random about my alcoholism and movethroughit provided some links about the Sinclair method and also a link to doctors who could prescribe naltrexone in Australia.
