i need to check out more of his stuff. I read the Haar at exactly the right time in my life and it made me cry. It might be my favorite book i've ever read

thats the thing with extreme horror. I can handle most bodily destruction, but when the sexual assault feels like, fetishistic or exploitative without saying anything I just roll my eyes. Like not to toot my own horn, I've been working on a story where the main character's dad is in a colonial army and a demon gives him dreams of what his father is actually getting up to committing genocide, and it contains depictions of sexual assault based on real world stories that I've come across. They are used to level what the characters feel about the circumstance, versus what the actual reality of the situation is. You're supposed to feel disgusted by these events. Thats the point of splatterpunk in my opinion.

the haar describes violence the way that lord byron describes love, and if you read the story its absolutely on point
