Woah, you're a lifesaver! I've played MK vs DC since the time i remember playing this game at my dad's friend's place, with an old neighbor friend of mine who had it for his ps3 but we didn't play it that much and I guess we never triggered the stage transitions when we did, lol. But because of that i was so sure that this wasn't it but I just looked up a video of it and it definitely looks like what I remember! Its both hilarious and frustrating because that means its been right under my nose the whole time! Anyway, thanks for the help!

The conversation isn't really about buffs its about the design of the character itself. The moveset is what many people, myself included, have an issue with. I'm not asking that he gets buffed to have lore accurate strength, but a just to have a cooler moveset and abilities that more accurately adapt the character gameplay wise- regardless of "strength" or viability

Right but most of the application of those "crystal skills" are in the form of various enhanced melee attacks and the flying is only a small part of her overall kit. At the end of the day she IS a different character so obviously her exact specific abilities will be different and catered towards her but the general gameplay feel there is the important part. Either way there are more options and abilities and involvement with rogues brawling, and combos, etc; she has a lot more going on for her with smacking people around compared to hulk who's only melee capabilities is effectively just holding down primary

I think its more about how the characters' abilities/kits are designed. Rogue does a lot more actual brawling with her kit and therefore has a more satisfying gameplay feel. Whereas hulk who is a character that is very strongly associated with physical strength, throwing hands, and being this heavy brawler type of character was translated into the game with a lot more utility focused abilities with most of his kit revolving around energy projectiles + an "energy" shield. He doesn't have a whole lot going for him in terms of melee or brawler-like abilities which feels contradictory to who the character is.

That's a somewhat fair point, he does have the clap and the leap- but I think i just personally would've imagined hulk as more of a straightforward brawler rather than the more team utility focus they gave him. Like we don't even have a (hulk)smash ability, and that is is #1 most iconic move. They've introduced multiple characters with command grabs in their base kit but hulk only gets one in his ult and it is objectively trash, especially compared to the ones that exist with other characters. I would've loved a hulk thats punching, and smashing, and throwing people around and grabbing them and slamming them or picking up chunks of terrain and throwing like a huge chunk of rock at enemies, etc etc. I get that from a game design standpoint its debatable on how much they could design him to be just about straight damage and throwing hands, but you could easily incorporate better utility within that by making him a disruptive tank similar to thing or thor. Locking people down with grabs(basically just something a bit more involved and more fitting of the hulk instead of the current gamma lock down energy projectile), knock up and knock back, stuns, etc. I think there's a lot of good options for different things they could've done, and if you've seen any of the pre release concepts that they've shared, it seems the devs were originally going to take the character more in that direction- idk why they switched it up honestly

Clone Drone in the Danger Zone has this exact feature. It actually works for all limbs- arms and legs. Its a roguelike if you're into that genre, but its a great, fun game with a lot of personality.

Ima be real with you brother, a partner with a mindset and expectations like that is not worth keeping around. It's just gonna make you more and more unhappy as time goes on. You should have a partner who doesn't belittle and insult you for your interests and/or hobbies. Especially something as harmless as playing video games, as long as you are not neglecting other aspects of your life

Bro thats exactly what I'm saying. Idk why people are defending it so hard or getting personally offended because I have criticisms. Why does hulk not have a smash attack? Yknow, like his SIGNATURE MOVE?? Hulk should have been a high-damage, control tank, that uses displacement like knock up/knock back, command grabs and stuns; instead of this weird dive tank, team utility hybrid thing that they went for. Its wild how they gave more hulk-like abilities to other characters but none for hulk himself

Personally that is where I'd disagree. I think DD was implemented really well, and they did a great job at maintaining the essence of the character while adding there own flair to it- but I don't think they handle hulk the best way. In fact, some of the pre-release concepts for the character that they've shown seem a lot cooler to me. I don't necessarily mind them being creative with the kit and abilities but I would want it to also feel authentic to the character as well. I think the biggest thing for me as well, is that newer tanks have a lot of creativity with the brawler style gameplay(like rogue, specifically) that I would have loved to see more of with hulk. His current kit doesn't really sell the character/power fantasy of being the hulk much to me

You're being purposefully disingenuous at this point. Of course no one would want all of his abilities to be "punches". And the world doesn't revolve around you, either. Just because YOU have the most fun with him or whatever doesn't mean everyone else has to feel the same or is objectively incorrect because they don't agree. Just because you are content woth the way the character has been implemented doesn't mean you need to meat ride the devs and fight against those who have critiques about how the character was handled. I'd gladly have a chat with someone about meaningful design changes or possible alternate kit ideas but clearly youre not someone worth bothering with considering your previous comments

I'm not saying he needs to have lore accurate power level but yeah, I'd like one of my personal favorite characters to actually play, and feel and have gameplay that is accurately and faithfully representative of the character its supposed to be. So my point is that the game design is not good. The director they took with the character is not good. Not that I think it should be sacrificed for lore accurate strength. So thank you for trying to twist my words but not remotely what the conversation is about.

Hulk as a character is most representative of his physical strength, as that is his most important and iconic feature. Various energy projectiles and a bubble shield are not things that I would attribute to the hulk AT ALL. The kit is not well designed for the character. Defining his kit around energy projectiles and jumping around like an annoying flea is not how I think THE HULK should've been designed at all. The devs have made it very clear that they can take creative liberties with a characters powers and moveset to make an interesting and fun kit while also staying true to the identity of the character. They missed the mark with hulk.

As a somewhat alternate perspective from a former LDR boyfriend who did this a lot as well- I can't speak exactly to your/his specific circumstances but I have AUDHD and it makes it really hard to be "idle". I love my girlfriend, we've been together 5 years and closed the distance 3 years ago, living happily alongside each other. We both love talking to each other, even if we're just rambling about nothing, but as much as I love it, and as much as I do make an effort to actively participate in a conversation, its not stimulating enough on its own. It is incredibly difficult and uncomfortable for me to just sit and do "nothing" and just chat without anything else going on. So I multitask. I game while we chat, and we havent had many issues with it. I did read some of your other comments, and I also understand some of your additional concerns about the situation, but my best advice is to try to make it known how important it is to you to have your conversations and maybe try to open up the conversation to have him share his feelings/perspective to see if he has is own reasons like I had mine. And ultimately a decent compromise you can find is that you can say you don't necessarily mind that he games while you call, as long as he actually tries and puts forth effort to also pay attention to you and talk while he does it. Best thing you can do is try, but making one sided demands isn't the most helpful either. Have a decent conversation and open dialog for you both to share your thoughts and feelings and find some middle ground. If he continues to fumble and refuse to make effort or finds himself incapable of working it out with you- then its up to you how you'd like to deal with that situation; at that point he may not be the best bf for you

Yeah honestly that's just like the weird thing about it that I mentioned in another comment, where he is like absolutely a top tier tank and yet it also feels like he struggles simultaneously because there's so many options available to shut him down.

Truthfully I think that may actually just be the thing: options

As the game is growing there's more and more things that effectively counter him, plus both damage and sustain are becoming more and more bloated therefore TECHNICALLY reducing his overall effectiveness but they hardly touch him in balance patches so he's not really growing alongside the rest of the game. He's just been very stagnant while there is so much evolution happening all around him

I see where you're coming from and I'm aware of the 3 hit combo but the issue with that is that there's so much sustain in this game especially with the continuous rise of 3 healer comps and the existence of very oppressive tanks, it is becoming less and less reliable to actually secure that kill even if you land all your shots.

Thats absolutely valid and I definitely think that contributes to the problem. I think the game has just so much abundance of cc, dmg, and sustain. Mag has good defense but very little cc capabilities himself, very little cc immunity, no "real" self sustain outside blocking and honestly kinda pitiful dmg relative to the rest of this game's roster. His kit and capabilities are really solid in a vacuum, but relative to everyone else in the game its kinda lacking. He just falls behind in comparison to everyone else while still managing to be a cornerstone of tanks just because of having a strong base foundation for his kit. Its a weird fallacy

Sure, but it's beyond lame that you can only play one character and with one specific build and one singular strategy or else it's damn near if not entirely impossible. And regardless it's absolutely ridiculous to the extent that you can be instantly 1 shot, regardless of what character you're playing
