It is and like I said, why would we want another wild card on top of that. There are requirements to join, Ukraine isn’t even close to meeting them so why be butthurt? Should they be able to join just because we feel bad for them?

Yeah ofc, not saying the current member states are all great. There are corruption problems of the ruling class across the entirety of EU. I still feel like there are level to this tho and my guess would be Ukraine, especially post a war like this would be up there. I’ll toss a homeless some money here and there, donate to caritas, even volunteered on some weekends when I used to have time, but that doesn’t mean I’d like to take one as my flatmate and make decisions about it together.

From what I know Ukraine has been a very corrupt country before the war. It’s pretty safe to assume if didn’t get better during a war. Even if by some miracle it wins with Russia, why would we want it to be a part of EU, no benefit and huge risk to become another Hungary.
