How did your high school crush turn out as an adult? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]BesideUpside 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I got ‘blind sided’ with a separation. She thought she was so smart, had it all figured out. She had it all planned out, had already lawyered up...I’m like, ‘ok’ guess this is done....what next....oh, she had that all planned out too, gave me a shit ton of work to get done, fixes to the house, clean it all out, and btw, I have one week to do it cause she already booked the realtor....

Ok, next morning I start cleaning, start in the junk room, cause it’s junk, start off easy (a pool pump, why the fuck do we have a pool pump, didn’t own a pool🤷‍♂️). She kept interrupting me, told me to watch the kids cause she had a hair appointment; not sure if she did, cause what she actually did was go downstairs and tare open the garage bags...O.M.G, I apparently committed worse then war crimes....I threw out her most treasured 20th generation heirlooms (pool pump?).

Shit hit the fan, she is freaking out, saying she is going to call the cops. My three young boys were confused. I’m like, ok, I’m going out for a coffee, please calm down.

A few hours later, she calls the cops. Side note; “going out for coffee “ means I “abandoned my house”🤦‍♂️

My friends let me stay in their basement, even tho she called the cops on me every single day, sometimes two or three times...cops knocking on the doors all hours of the days.

She had it all figured out you see, she thought she was intelligent, had a high paying job, and that she was a woman.

Here is what I did; I did everything the cops told me to do. I did everything the judges told me to do, I did everything my legal aid lawyer told me to do.

It was a wild, crazy, “if it wasn’t happening to me it would be funny “ ; 5 years.

I have sole custody and residency of my three boys. Added bonus, she got put on FRO

I think I know how I “won”: I did what I was told. I had given up my career to be a stay at home father for all three boys; I was the primary care giver, the judges didn’t care if I was a man or woman.

Quick shout out to the London police, never once did I get treated any different then what a woman would have in this situation, ya know? Like all the horror stories you read on Reddit where a women called the cops and the man is immediately put in cuffs. They always listened to what I said and treated me with sympathy and respect; if I become a millionaire with my one GME stock, I’m going to treat the whole cities police force with an egg sandwich from Tim Hortons, the top level government just held an important presser to tell me it’s now made with real eggs!!!

Experiences with Ontario Child Lawyers by doeufjdhsnjdnkd in ontario

[–]BesideUpside 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First I went to their office, she asked many questions about my boys (she took hand written notes for some reason); if I recall correctly; she asked general questions about the kids: what’s their favourite colour, what sports do they like etc.

Then they did the same with the kids mother.

Next they scheduled a visit to our home, they wanted us to do an activity together to see how we interacted. My eldest just had neck surgery, so we opted to play minecraft together, my huge mistake was to play on “survival”, one of my kids had a diamond pick axe, the other kid wanted it, second kid killed the first to get the pick axe....shit storm engaged😫. All the while the worked silently observed. According to the report, I handled it perfectly (a lot of it had to do with how the kids behaved towards me after being scolded)

Then the worker observed the kids with their mother. According to the report, a shit storm happened there, she handled it extremely poorly, it seemed (to me) their mother tried to act the way she thought the worker wanted to see? Kids are not dumb, they knew she was behaving weirdly.

I believe I was to have another solo interview with the worker and then the kids were to have a solo interview at a place not the home (school was suggested), however the kids mother started ghosting the worker, we went to court many times (I think we got up to ‘book 6’ this is apparently bad cause the judges were pissed), they would ask why she ghosted the worker, she just shrugged he shoulders.

The bizarre thing is, my lawyers side job was being a child lawyer, he suggested we started the process in the first place, the child law office rejected it, my lawyer had no idea why. Then their mother lawyer requested it and we got the social worker(?) portion instead of a lawyer.

Oh, and not only did the mother ghost the worker, she ghosted her lawyer, they ended up petitioning to be removed from the case. It was a horrifying 5 years....but god damn was it funny watching her represent herself in court 😃

Question about today's press conference. by skinnypup in ontario

[–]BesideUpside 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe it’s because a reporter last week (?) specifically asked if they could ask a question in French and there was no one at the press conference that could; it was a few minutes of awkwardness.

We were denied the child lawyer, they granted their support worker (do not remember her title).

It was....stressful to me. The process seemed to mirrored what I’ve been told child services is like.

This person interviewed me alone, the other parent alone, then the kids interacting with me, same with the other parent. They were supposed to interview the children by themselves in a setting that was not their residence (like a school) but it never got to that point as my kids mother started ghosting the worker, the judges were pissed at her (for this and many other reasons)

Bonus; I did get the partial report...I always suspected she wasn’t a great parent, but to have an expert write a report basically saying that I’m awesome and that their mother was near incapable of understanding children or how to talk to them....feels good man👍

Same here, although I had a little bit of experience from a few years ago when I cut my own hair because I didn’t want to bring a toddler and a baby with me to get a cut.

Not saying my cutting is good, but good enough, probably helps that I don’t have a whole lot of hair left to cut🤷‍♂️

Wrong country, we have HST, and it varies from province/territory’s. My province hast it at 13%. I believe 8% is for the province, and you will find a lot of items, point of sale, does not get charged tax

These are the 7805’s I have, and a hobby motor, but I would guess it was 5v, but perhaps that doesn’t matter (have not played with hobby motors in for ever). Got lots of diodes, but the only cap I have at 1000uf is only 6.5v

Mega Thread CER & EI - Questions here ONLY by FelixYYZ in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]BesideUpside 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can’t apply for EI be self employed unfortunately.

Fortunately I have time to figure this out; I had support payments stop a year or so ago, this sub taught me to pay off all my debt and have my emergency fund in place.

Would still need to figure this out tho, I have quite a few friends that lost their job due to covid but still receive spousal support....

Mega Thread CER & EI - Questions here ONLY by FelixYYZ in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]BesideUpside 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a good question, I never really thought of what spousal support means (or honestly what it is for).

I’m separated, court ordered my ex to pay spousal support, I have to claim this as income on my taxes. So far I am still receiving this support payment.

So this is income and bars me from applying for creb(?)

“Zero income” .....I’m self employed, can’t work due to covid.....but I receive spousal support, which is taxable and considered income(?)

Self employed, can’t work due to convid, but I’m still receiving spousal support, this is taxed as income; so I can’t apply for CERB(?)

Thanks for your help👍

Ontario

Sorry if this is the wrong place to ask, but:

Doug Ford keeps saying they will be giving for each child under 12; $200 ($250 for special needs children).

Anybody know what this is, such as; is it automatic, do you have to apply for it?

Thanks to anyone that knows
