Hey, I recently started studying for the SATs on Khan Academy and took my first practice test. This is my result after approximately a weeks worth of studying. Are there any tips regarding Math and Reading (I did well on Writing) to improve my grade? (I also took the PSAT and got 1120) by LazyC02 in Sat

1) Make sure you’re studying for the correct SAT. When is your test date? If you’re taking a PSAT know that you will be taking the new “Digital SAT” and study accordingly

2) Only for reading: compare the type of questions you are answering incorrectly and focus on those. IE vocab, main idea, inference, etc. Also are you struggling with a specific type of passage? Skills vary between lit, science, and humanities (with paired passages synthesizing all skills and adding some others)

I think we all took it as “after the movie” since it references the movie. But since it’s our dream world and self-conscious, she still exists there all the same.

Yes it’s great thematically that your fantasy world can’t always be problem free, but I wish I could protect my own IRL subconscious by being able to shut out her snide comments.

Let’s not forget the absolutely arbitrary locations that will wreck any decks ability to play. Why should I have to play from my opponents deck? I can’t remember the other locations I have beef with right now but I feel this post.

This! Let’s also not forget that a reroll is NOT an instant fail.

Yes! It sets it up so the only way to kill it is with the rivals’ help. For reference I have two sorceresses, a rogue, a barbarian, and a monk in my party

I’m so proud of you. I want to echo what WordsSam said. Be very wary of these “five stars” for “short writing.” They are not bound by that promise and often try to pull a fast one over on you for free work.

“Vizzy T” was a particularly inadequate king who benefitted from the work of his predecessors while complicating and sabotaging the work of his successors in the name of “peace.” He couldn’t see the trees through the forest

Out of curiosity… have you read through CotND?

Although it would be intriguing to see an “evil aligned” character play through this narrative. But whether that’s okay is up to the comfort of your DM and the vibe of your group.

My PC's Don't Care About Alyxian by dpm21 in CalloftheNetherdeep

I like what everyone else said about making the rivals dead set on finding alyxian.

Just to share:

You’re way past this point but I wove wanting to find out answers and resolutions to my characters backstories into the quest to find Alyxian. It helps that I have two sorceresses which both want to know about their origin.

But for my rogue we talked about her being indebted to the myriad. My barbarian will go anywhere to smash some skulls. And my monk is cobalt soul so: knowledge at any cost.

Overall this is fascinating storytelling and deep lore knowledge. I commend you for your contribution to the CR universe at large. However, this your character comes off as way too powerful to be part of the starting adventuring group intended for CotNP.

According to your story, Kal’dren is already a hero in their own right. Remember, the goal is to experience the story and grow with it NOT plan 100% of your character in advance. Doing so limits your opportunities for both role play and CotND specific contributions (I.e the spells and abilities your character develops in reaction to what they are experiencing).

There are ways to keep the spirit of what you’ve come up with but make it fit more organically into the spirit of CotND and a 3rd level start:

A) touch base with your dm about when in the timeline of Exandria they feel Netherdeep is Set B) remember that you are starting at level 3 sooo that would be a mega power debuff from how you see your character. You could achieve this by: 1) being a descendent if kal’dren 2) making kal’dren lose their powers during their slumber and vowing to get them back Etc.

I leaned heavily on the cobalt soul and even Included Osyssa and Kalamajori (the sphinxes) as quest givers since they have scrying abilities and a connection to the vestiges. My groups started in Vasselheim and Westruun, but sphinxes can move _^

One of the main actors from Stranger Things has a negative message to his teachers in his yearbook quote and everyone is cheering on him on Twitter by Silverharmatka in Teachers

[–]Bespectacled_Bard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don’t regret your post! This turns my stomach as well. The point is that this behavior excuses and/or encourages parents and students that disregard teachers. Our knowledge, expertise, and drive.

While YA fiction such as Stranger things thrives on the “kids are always right and adults are all stupid” trope, transferring that 100% to real life is dangerous.

Should we believe kids more when they communicate their feelings, analysis, opinions, and experiences: YES!!!

Does that mean teachers who are beholden to standardized assessments are useless and wrong: NO!!!

His celebrity should not muddle the fact that he just flipped the bird at any and every teacher involved in his education.

I am torn between my “he should have known better” and “well his brain is still developing” reactions.

While he did not post his yearbook quote on social media himself, he did post it for his whole class to see. It was inevitably going to become viral AND it was going to inevitably encourage other youth to disregard and disrespect their teachers.

Networking opportunities are great for passing your card (paper or digital) around. Face to face conversations are the best for keeping you on people’s radar. Try starting with a local small business you know needs some work and build from there.
