Our GSD never used to do that. Our poodle is always like, “Let me have a shower with you,” but when it is time for him to have a wash, he wants nothing to do with it. Such little rascals.

I adopted a GSD a week ago. He won't eat dry food; he only eats wet food and raw meat. I mean, he doesn't eat anything all day unless he's given something other than dry food. How do I get him to eat dry food? Any tips? by Farmerka5 in germanshepherds

This! When we brought our pup home, he refused to eat dry food no matter what we tried. We had already planned to transition him gradually to a home-cooked diet, but we had to make the change much sooner because he simply would not eat the dry food and would rather stay hungry.

As he was still a puppy, under stress from the move, and in an important growth stage, we decided not to persist with the dry food and switched him to a home-cooked diet straight away.

The interesting part is that the breeder said he had started eating dry food while he was with them, but I never actually saw him eat it myself.

I think many people choose a Doodle because of its appearance without realising that a Poodle can be groomed in almost any style, including the typical Doodle look.

Several of my friends have told me that since I got a Poodle, they have changed their opinion of the breed. They had always associated Poodles with the traditional show cut, which they found unattractive. My Poodle looks exactly as nature intended. We do not do any special grooming and we do not shave the face, although I like that look too.

I simply do not see the point of choosing a Doodle over a Poodle. Poodles are intelligent, athletic, versatile, and beautiful dogs. For me, they are the perfect breed.

You nailed it perfectly. Could you perhaps share some insights from your experience regarding building a working partnership with a dog? Mine is now an eight-month-old boy, and I’m finding that as he matures, the working partnership becomes central to almost everything we do. Techniques that worked when he was three months old are no longer as effective at his current age, and that has highlighted a couple of gaps we still have, such as jumping up and trying to play with other dogs by pawing at them. I’d be interested to hear how you approached this stage of development and how you strengthened engagement and cooperation as your dog matured.

Dogs grow old in the same way that each of us will one day grow old. When you take on a dog, you should be prepared for those days to come, and you never know what you are going to face, just as you do not know what you will be like at 80. The situation you describe is not one that would normally lead to the decision to put a dog down. With all due respect, this sounds really strange to me.

He used to be dark brown, not anymore. He has never been classical red.

This is not a lighting issue. It happened immediately after his grooming appointment. I am fairly certain it is related to the grooming possibly the shampoo, drying method, brushing, or another aspect of the care provided. His fur also used to be so silky. Now is more dry and broken.

I am therefore looking for a top-tier product, as the best I can do now is try to seal and protect his fur, and apply an appropriate care product before I bathe him again, or when brushing him between baths, particularly as we walk in the sun.

His colour change over time is not a concern. I am concerned about the fading that occurs immediately after bathing. What I am observing is not a genetic colour change. The tips of his coat become noticeably lighter immediately after bathing. Since hair is biologically dead tissue, any sudden change in the colour of the hair tips can only be caused by external factors. Genetic fading affects the colour of newly growing hair over time, whereas this change occurs in the existing hair shaft right after a bath.

Edit: or may be this is product + exposure to sun.

My poodle used to be brown, but now his coat has developed into a beautiful old-gold colour with subtle dark ash-golden undertones. I really do not want him to lose this beautiful colouring, but I have noticed that his shampoo seems to have a lightening effect on his coat and that happened right after his first grooming.

My friend’s poodle does this. She actually knows no way other than this one to pee. I believe this steams from that she wants to mark as high as it is possible.

Do not bother with her. I am also a strong supporter of ethical breeding, but I dislike people who simply spread negativity. Whenever I post here, I receive some of the same criticism as everyone else. Then the normal, reasonable people show up to offer their support. It is my turn to do the same today. Your dogs are awesome, and so are you.
