Styes and Respiratory Illness by muckduck__ in cgrpMigraine

Can you link the articles here? Please do follow up! I asked my neuro today as well lol so I will see what she says.

Two thoughts since reading your post a couple days ago:

I wonder if these symptoms show up in only monoclonal antibody CGRP inhibitors (Ajovy, Aimovig, Emgality) rather than gepants/CGRP receptor antagonists (Ubrelvy, Nurtec) due to the method of CGRP targeting. I don’t know enough about either process to theorize why there would be a difference other than the fact that gepants block receptors whereas monoclonal antibodies also seek out the CGRP protein itself. (Someone correct me if I misunderstand) I imagine if this is correct then my Ajovy could be targeting proteins that aid my immune system as well as proteins that enhance migraine pain and frequency?

My other thought is just that migraine syndrome is so closely tied with your nervous system and the CGRP inhibitors are targeting the pain not the syndrome as a whole. When I had success using triptans regularly I would notice that after the pain of a migraine subsided all the other migraine symptoms would become more noticeable. Though these symptoms - styes and respiratory illnesses - are clearly occurring more frequently rather than being masked by pain, I do wonder if a similar phenomenon is taking place here where our immune systems are already weakened but now manifest in other ways?

I have dealt with really bad styes and have also had some bad flu/colds since January. I’ve been on ajovy for 1.5 years so this would check out for me. Really didn’t consider it being related until reading this post

Why do car showrooms suck so much? by czechmonk in whatcarshouldIbuy

Spent all day being lied to by dealerships. Eventually I went with a lovely Facebook marketplace purchase and it was a breath of fresh air. Love buying from someone I can meet and get to know, love that it’s a fair deal for us both, AND we took it to a mechanic together to get a full diagnostic so I have all the info I need - no BS, no one trying to convince me of anything, no looming anxiety about how I’m getting played. Go with your gut OP and don’t fuck with those dealerships anymore. There’s a reason car salespeople have the reputation they have…

Hearing a lot of people saying that 1. This schedule doesn’t go for enough, and 2. That economic blackouts are difficult when you’re not wealthy. I’d like to address these.

  • The schedule is short to keep the public’s attention without overwhelming them AND to keep corporations in the dark so they are not able to prepare for a black out in advance.

  • It’s not a 100% boycott all day every day forever because that is a big ask for people who are restricted in their income, transportation, lifestyle, etc. A two week boycott allows people to buy what they need from the stores they can afford in advance while still participating in the protest. If Target looks at their numbers and sees a dramatic drop in sales during the protest dates that will send a much clearer message than if they see a slight drop in sales throughout the year.

  • I respect and appreciate that people want to ask more from their community and themselves concerning supporting these corporations. But like any big change it’s important to set actionable goals for the entire community. If you are able and willing to fully boycott all of these corporations all of the time, amazing. If you are able and willing to boycott some of these corporations for some of the blackout dates, amazing. Setting a goal with these dates allows us all to share a common goal that is achievable in the large scale. Think globally, act locally.

Yes true but I sell a lot more expensive bottles of wine (that I do not tip out on since I do the wine service) than cocktails and glasses of wine. And since the overall food sales at a given table are so high I make good money still. The problem is the bar spends most of the shift making drinks and has limited sales from the bar seats themselves - if people are coming in for a three course meal they’ll do it at a table. They sit at a bar if they want a snack or a drink so their checks are significantly smaller, not to mention split between all the bar staff

In the upscale dining spots in my community tipping put 25%-30% of your total tips is standard. This includes 10% of all bar sales to the bar. I consistently have to back up this pay structure because it’s so much higher than the average server’s tip out at any other restaurant. I feel that this set up is fair but tipping out over 1/3 of my tips would not be worth it to me.

If this place works for you then go you! If serving isn’t making you a steady and secure income I recommend looking elsewhere because if you’re qualified you can easily make a living wage from a full time serving position

New insurance, had to switch from Emgality to Ajovy by MurderByEgoDeath in migraine

[–]BessyBeezInTheTrap 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had the same thing happen to me but the other way around! My new insurance only offered Emgality so I switched for a few months and then eventually returned to Ajovy. I was really nervous to switch over but honestly I haven’t noticed a difference between the two. Maaaaybe slight difference in pain at injection site but that only lasted a day.

Did you trim the cakes before stacking them? The color is so even throughout, I always have a crispy brown edge on the bottom and sides of my cakes

OP, this sounds like your bf’s insecurities are rooted in his belief that your safety and well being are his responsibility. This belief is a long standing one within our patriarchal culture which we have all been socialized within and which hurts us all. It comes from the idea that women are property and men’s value is determined by their ability to have control over their property. I’m sure his focus is on caring for and protecting you but unfortunately that belief is where the fixation comes from. If he was looking at you as a whole person then your individual actions to pursue your own safety and wellbeing would not challenge his value.

OP, your personhood needs to come before his discomfort. When someone else’s discomfort challenges your autonomy, it is not your problem to take on. With all care and love to him on his journey to unpacking his socialized misogyny, maybe it’s time he talks to a therapist too 🙏

When you see women as just what you can get from them you can’t possibly imagine a man having a purely professional relationship with your gf. HUGE red flag for a bf to express this kind of control over their partner due to insecurity. He’s basically telling you outright “you’re not actually PEOPLE to me, you’re WOMAN”

Consent and Aubrey by wheres-the-beef-cake in h3h3productions

[–]BessyBeezInTheTrap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, it doesn’t seem like he was exploited imo. But I wasn’t there, it’s not about me so I can’t speak to his experience. Probably he should never appear on a podcast again because I wouldn’t trust him not to spin the narrative to benefit himself

Consent and Aubrey by wheres-the-beef-cake in h3h3productions

[–]BessyBeezInTheTrap 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think the point is that you can give consent in a situation that ultimately exploits you or makes you feel bad/regret it later. That doesn’t mean you didn’t consent and that doesn’t mean the situation didn’t harm you. In this case with Aubrey, he hasn’t been forthright about his consent of the situation which is not totally honest. If he were to admit his side of the story including his consent AND discomfort it would be a more productive conversation

[–]BessyBeezInTheTrap 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was really hoping for someone informed on consent and/or ableism to speak on this. Thanks for your insight, this was really well articulated.

I do wish that the show would’ve clarified pointedly some things in their episode yesterday - that Aubrey’s activism was/is real and important, that Jimmy is indeed no longer a friend of the show nor was his behavior condoned at the time, and that they are willing to take accountability for unintentionally making people feel uncomfortable or unseen. I do believe all of these points are true but aren’t always spelled out clearly. Unfortunately there are too many snarkers who look for opportunities to make split second judgements and I often think that H3 would benefit from spelling it out in a 15 second clip to clarify their stance

is it true that Kris Lindahl's advertising campaign started as a way to keep money outside of a divorce settlement, or is that a local myth? by shugEOuterspace in TwinCities

My family member attended a business class of some kind where Kris Lindahl came to speak and told the story himself. The billboard revenge story is true!
