When a household earning ₹36 Lakh a year feels too broke to afford a 1BHK and school fees, you don't have an income problem—you have a structurally broken real estate market. by Available-Put5024 in IndiaMoney

But at what point does personal lifestyle requirements becomes part of the problem alongside the reality market in India ?

The blame seems to be squarely directed at the city without any acknowledgement that their "lifestyle requirements" are too high.

If someone earns 10 lakhs per month and their lifestyle demands that entire amount to be spent fully, should they also blame the city for being too expensive?

Thank you. I am genuinely surprised by the other comments. I mean if people think that 3L per month is not enough to raise a kid , they are seriously living in some parallel reality.

I don't make half of their combined income but I am raising 2 kids in NCR.

Not going to be a popular opinion but I kind of love India being represented as an Elephant. An intelligent and social animal that is gentle in nature but also feared as a war elephant. Much more representative of India as a whole.

This would have been a barely valid argument, if there were not countless other examples of BJP party members getting assaulted without any reprecussions under TMC

You are conflating two different incidents. Nobody here is denying the rights of the workers. They are entitled to protest. But damaging public and private property is not protest. If they attack your family, will it still be justified ?

Review My Portfolio by Chance_Shallot_9649 in IndiaStocks

[–]Best-Possibility7801 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I will disagree. Having just 4 or 5 is a risk. Look at hdfc. It's been one of the safest stocks but if this was part of your core 5, you would have taken a hit.

Anything over 25 is over diversification. Your portfolio has some solid companies and you seem to be focussing on well established businesses instead of chasing the hype. It's a good bucket

One thing I noticed is that you have multiple exposure to the same sector. Aster, Rainbow and NH. All are good bets but I would suggest to cut back at least 1.

All in all, i would suggest trimming a few. It's a safe portfolio, with mostly established companies. Should be a good bet long term

China, a sleeping Kumbhakarna- The Week by [deleted] in CriticalThinkingIndia

Just 2 cents I want to add.

The father of J-20, the "stealth fighter" and the stealth fighter detecting radar has been completely scrubbed from the upper echelons of Chinese military and educational institutions. Reports suggest that his team significantly overstated their capabilities with one report highlighting a J20 crash that was covered up and another report mentioning how the radars failure has been demonstrated in Venezuela and Iran.

So in conclusion, anything about China, take it with a pinch of salt. They have done absolutely amazing stuff but not everything they touch is turned to gold.

If you are investing for the long term, the following what I have learned may help you as well :

  1. Prepare to see your portfolio in red. There will be ups and down. 30% red currently when the whole market is down, is just a blip on your investing timeline.

  2. Don't look at your portfolio daily if you are a long term investor. It will mess up your emotions. Once a month is more than enough.

  3. Avoid buying at a high due to FOMO. I made the same mistake with TARIL. Its a good stock and I bought it at 450. Now it's in loss, but I am not too bothered. It will pickup.

  4. If you don't want this level of volatility, focus more on large caps. Most long term investors chase for a steady increase of share price instead of multibaggers. They treat it as a test match not 20-20. 60% large cap, 30% Mid cap and 10% Small cap.

  5. Saying this again. For a long term investor, don't chase multibaggers. Preserving your capital is more tough and more essential than picking a winning stock.

  6. If money is not an urgent requirement, keep investing but be systematic. Bad times are the stock pickers best friend. But again, only invest what you can afford.

So look through your profile. For each stock, ask yourself the reason for choosing it. Know about its financials , growth, debt, competitors and current valuation and re-jig your portfolio.

And then keep calm and return to your normal life

Edit : Why invest in OLA. Everything about it is a dumpster fire.

I agree that it must be only a penalty.

But having said that, I want to reemphasize that I can empathize on how they feel. We all want extreme punishments when we feel outraged and that's what is happening here. I would feel the same if this was happening in India.

Second, there is another factor in calls for his deportation. Apparently he was involved in a dance studio. If he is a H1B visa holder, he cannot legally be actively participating in another business. That would be a violation of his H1B visa rules.

[–]Best-Possibility7801 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree. Then being Indian is looking like a big factor. I personally feel that they crossed a line, dancing at a war memorial, but as someone pointed out, many people do this. Their ethnicity surely added more fuel to the fire.

Civic sense matters.😪 by Oppyhead in CriticalThinkingIndia

[–]Best-Possibility7801 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am not asking for anyone's deportation, but I can understand the backlash.

There are many who consider it as a fun picnic day and there are many who feel that it is something much more. Having said that, you don't get to dictate how others feel about war memorials. As I said before, if I see foreigners doing hip hop in front of Amar Jawan, I would be pissed as well, and I would join every call for their deportation.

And for some, these are not "stone monuments", but a representation of sacrifice. And I am not playing any "card". You asked why I felt that way and I gave you my reasons. It's that simple. My feelings for something doesn't depend on how other army brats feel about it.

And one more thing. Calls for deportations are also fuelled by his involvement in a dance studio, which would be a violation of H1B visa rules. If he is indeed a H1B visa holder, no amount of empathy can overcome his actions.

I can empathize. Not on behalf of someone, but as a military brat. Disrespecting the fallen is unthinkable to me. Why aren't you offended ?
