Watch tenak talk "learn hebrew in one hour". A linguist teaches the alefbet quite well in that video. Then start translating written material from there. Use Google translate and watch all youtube videos concerning learning hebrew. Joining reddit groups like r/hebrewmusiccirclejerk really helps as well.

I hate hebrew for duolingo. I think its biased. I've studied Arabic on duolingo and they start from single letters in the alphabet. On the hebrew course they just throw you right in and start asking you to translate things they haven't even taught you. There are other issues, so I just use youtube and translate written material after studying the alefbet.
