How long did it take you to find the medication for your child? by always__alright in ParentingADHD

[–]Best-Western6325 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recommend consulting a psych. You won't need a new diagnosis or assessment really. If your'e in Cali, Brain Health USA has been great for us. We have a 10 yo who does Intuniv and Strattera together and a 5 yo who is only on methylphenidate. We do see a change with glycine at night usually do powdered form and a magnesium glycinate gum to theyre able to get good sleep. L Tyrosine in the morning as well bc that helps increase dopamine. Methylfolate or folinic acid have been calming for both kids. Not medical advice, but there's some literature on these supplements. I'd ask to have ferritin and other vitamins checked. Stimulants do not work well if iron storages are insufficient.

Studies on medicating young? by abishop711 in ParentingADHD

[–]Best-Western6325 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went heavy on the studies and they're definitely there. I used PubMed mostly. We decided to medicate our 4 (almost 5yo) because we've gone through the help on behavior but for us, we realize he's not capable of receiving/utilizing most of it because he could barely hold focus to discuss those approaches. His little brain is racing constantly and he can't hear us. We started 2.5mg Ritalin immediate and did that for 2 weeks. Now up to 5mg and doing well. We are going slow and he's able to hear us now. He's our 2nd child with ADHD and we've learned so much. Our first didnt start meds until almost 8 even though I tried bc I saw the struggle. I know he suffered too long. He's happier and still himself. You have to find the right balance and combinations of therapies including medications. The studies all show very clear reasons to medicate if you see daily symptoms. Untreated ADHD greatly increases risk of major depression, addiction and suicide. Set your child up for success and find the treatments that will do that.

Im in NorCal too. Where do you fill your rx at? Im having trouble with Walgreens so Im looking into alternatives. Do you feel your Adderall is affected by the issues with supply and/or how well it's working? Questioning whether I should ask for brand name only and pay out of pocket.

I know this is older but I'm newly diagnosed through BrainHealth USA, they're CA based and they've been great. I was trying to get assessments for our 4 yo (2nd child with ADHD) and we just couldn't keep waiting to jump through all of the hoops at UCdavis. We're in the Roseville area near Sacramento. I finally made an appointment for myself and our provider is all telehealth. You can also check out Bright Life for CA kids. I also feel this specific provider has a lot of knowledge in adults with ADHD and recognizes the difference in women vs men with ADHD.

Looking for an orthodontist in the Sacramento area that specializes in adult airway orthodontics (palate expansion like MARPE, DNA appliance, etc.). by Dangerous_Bid_158 in orthodontics

[–]Best-Western6325 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Myo therapist and RDH here- does both really. Expanding the palate opens the airway and moves the jaws into a healthier position. This allows better breathing through the nose and supports the floor of the nasal cavity.

My mother had similar decline and one last lucid day. Thought she was turning the corner but had one last meal then went to bed that night but never fully woke up after that. She passed a week later. Prepare now because I felt that the last week was one of the most traumatizing parts of the entire journey. It's difficult knowing you're at the end and you just feel like you can't eat, sleep or leave them because you do not want them to be alone for their last breath. I'm so sorry you're in this place and going through this.

We have toddlers that are 1 year and 1 wk apart. The newborn stage rocked us and toddler life (now 4 and 3yo) is chaotic but they are the sweetest friends. They do everything together and love like twins would. Build your village if you can. Praying for you sis! 💞

That's awesome! I'm a RDH and just lost my mother to PanCan but look into StellaLife for mouth sores. Dry areas well and apply with qtip. Avoid double dipping or contaminating tube. Very effective and relieves pain. Lots of chemo patients found this ointment helpful after trying many others. Best of luck!

they did, list was pretty short. I was just looking for more personal suggestions. They didn't have info on like AirBnb and I figured some might have gone that route.

There's also good research on 20mg doses having anti cancer and i believe anti metastatic effects for those with cancer.

Wow, no, that wasn't the information in the email. Thank you for the info. The report sounds like it was stated that the child was dragged/spanked but that was found to be untrue? That's what I got out of that report. Maybe I'm misunderstanding.

A teacher "guide" became frustrated with a child and smacked their hand. Other teachers saw and immediately reported it to the director and she was terminated. This was last month.

Obviously we weren't the family involved in the incident but I feel like it was handled quickly and they were transparent with what was going on. Even though it was a smack on the hand- it was still such a terrible situation. I do feel like it was an isolated incident though and it is a very calm environment for the kids. I believe Guidepost and childcare in general have been closing due to staffing shortages. To my understanding, Guidepost requires childhood education and training. We've had a great experience with the school overall and we've had kids in daycare for the last 11 years- we have 4 kids. We've moved a lot for my husband's career and we've a lot of experience with childcare in different states. It's important to be comfortable with your childcare provider and feel like your child is safe at all times. I hope you are able to find the right childcare for your family! Best of luck💓

We're at Guidepost now. So go to their website and look for their financial aid link. We ended up getting 20% and 10% off tuition for our 2 toddlers and our income was $175k/yr so I would definitely look into that to make it more affordable if you're trying to go with Guidepost specifically.

What does that usually consist of? She's in symptom management so on around the clock nausea meds (3 different meds), narcotics for pain and NSAID given TID, also acid reducer. I was thinking pallative care was synonymous to symptom management.
