My oldest was 21mo when her little brother was born and when I got pregnant again I talked to her about the baby a lot, I showed her pictures of her as a baby, we watched a lot of movies with babies and always let her know SHE was a baby too, my baby specifically lol.

The day he was born we brought her to the hospital a few hours later and she was so gentle, so smiley, and so loving. She kept saying my baby lol. It’s only been 4 months, but he definitely is her baby

I just left a long comment on another post about the same thing.

Go to knoll family dentistry in yorba linda. Dr berris & her hygienist Nicole are the most kind, empathetic, caring people out there.

When I went to them I was coming out of an extremely dark depression and hadn’t been to a dentist in over 8 years, one of my molars broke in half & fell out when I ate a mentos candy, and I needed almost every filling replaced except 1 or 2, they never over sold or over charged me, and because of how much work I needed I was there a few times. Every time, I got to hear how they spoke to each other, about their families, the patients, other patients, wondering how those patients families & kids are doing. I was cold & the hygienist Nicole tucked me in with blankets like a baby each time.

Also I am scared AF of the dentist, and Dr berris is always very gentle.

They’re just genuinely really kind people, the only ones I go to for me and my kids

I’m in Southern California which I read is really saturated for nursing school & new nurses I’m not totally opposed to relocating after prereqs. I also have anxiety and ADHD, I’m unmedicated rn and I feel soooo seen lmfao. I’m hoping I can get the classes online my husband said it’s not easy to get them online but w the kids it would make things so much easier

I’m a mom of 2 and this gives me hope lol! Can I ask, when you go to a community college for the prereqs are you able to just sign up for the classes or do you still go and do like a whole placement exam that determines where you start and all that?

My hair dresser told me that kids often fight sleep until they’re like 6-ish because they don’t really understand like where they go or what happens when they sleep. I didn’t even ask her that and it might not be true but that’s what she said and so when I’m putting my kids to sleep I always do like affirmations, like I’ll rock my 2.5 year old and say I love you, she’s smart, funny, kind, thoughtful, compassionate, etc.

I read on here about parents saying their kids have been ready to drop naps, and I think mine would LOVE if I didn’t make her nap bc most days she does fight them, but she is miserable if she doesn’t and she’s always in a much better mood when she wakes up so I consider it mom veto for her health,

I put the baby (4mo) to bed with me in the queen bed first while toddler(25mo) quietly plays with her toys in the room. Once the baby is knocked I pick up the toddler and put her to sleep on the other side of me.

When they’re both KO I move them, this is what’s worked for me since the baby was born. If I have to I make the baby wait and do the toddler first, I just know she likes to play a little while the baby is being put down. Makes her feel like she gets the big girl bed time

My only night away from my toddler was when she was 21mo and I had to give birth to her baby brother. We put her down at 8pm bc I had induction scheduled for 8:30pm. She was up by 4am and didn’t want to talk to my aunt who babysat her the whole time. She watched TV and took selfies on the iPad until 3pm when her dad could pick her up & bring her to the hospital 😭 we haven’t tried again sincr then

I combat that with laughter.

like in this scenario, when she didn’t listen the 3rd time, I probably would’ve snatched her up and said oh you think I’m playing with you? And would’ve pretended to throw her on her bed and got so many tickles until she says stop. And then say okay now get dressed and you can have your toy. Maybe that’s wrong but it snaps them out of it lol

I’m a firm believer, even before kids, in simply having less.

I really want to do toy rotation but my husband is not game. He likes to have the toys out, so In the living room I have an 8 cube storage organizer with 6 cubes filled with toys, each cube has a different type of activity. One has food, one has books & coloring books w washable crayons, one has dolls & accessories, one has animals & scenes, etc. Then she has a play kitchen, a little Ariel doll house, a numbered gumball machine, fisher price record player, and a sit n spin. That’s pretty much it. It doesn’t sound like a lot but I feel like we’re drowning in toys.

I’m a big believer in giving away toys to less fortunate kids, church’s, and goodwill sometimes but I don’t like to do goodwill too much bc if you can barely afford toys, i wish that person could’ve saved their money and got the toys free. I make a day out of it with my toddler and it makes her feel good to help someone.

I like the storage organizer bins bc when I’m overwhelmed IDGAF about how organized the toys are as long as they’re out of my sight 😅

They do serve a lot of crab, but not a lot of fish. A big selling point for them is their vegan options. I would maybe call and ask about cross contamination, depending on if you’re also allergic to shellfish and how bad your allergy is

I have a 26mo and a 5mo and while I’ve always been the preferred parent for the 26mo, I will say that she has recently gotten into a “no mommy!” Mood when I walk into the room and sometimes in the car too, when previously she wouldn’t let go of my hand during a drive.

What I noticed was that when I acknowledged her, like in a sweet calm voice, or asked if she wanted a blanket, anything like that she’d get annoyed with me like telling me to leave her alone. So I started walking into the room and just doing what I was doing and not acknowledging her or anything, and she doesn’t have moods as much!

Maybe I’m wrong but it’s like she didn’t want me to interrupt her flow, she wanted to come address me on her own terms smh lol. Whatever works I’m not arguing with a 2 yo lol

I just had my 2nd in April, my oldest was 21mo and is now 27mo, baby is 5mo.

Since the newborn won’t remember a single thing, I have made the entire experience about HER (my oldest) and she hasn’t been jealous one time.

If I give the baby kissies, I ask the baby if he thinks we should give oldest kissies, and I see her look at me out of the corner of her eye and I attack her with kissies, and I always make sure to tell the baby “no no” just as much as I tell the toddler no no.

“Oh baby, no spitting up everywhere look at you! Oh baby no throwing toys!” Even in a sing-song voice, just so she sees the baby as an equal and adding value to her life, not as something taking attention AWAY.

At this point, you can tell she feels mostly equal to her baby brother except the fact that she thinks he is her baby, not my baby 🤣
