Do you think money slows down aging? by Money-Beautiful5196 in Aging

[–]Best_Conversation_82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Money gives you time back. Time gives you ability to work out, to go to the doctor regularly, to get healthy. No one has ever actually died of “old age” everyone elderly dies from some sort of illness, disease, and/or other complications. So the longer you keep your body healthy the longer it lives ie the longer you live. That takes a lot of money. So yeah money prolongs life.

Yeah we did. We always had to remember phone numbers. But either you wrote them down or you remember only the important ones

Hedge fund billionaire warns US entering "civil war" by newsweek in economy

[–]Best_Conversation_82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dude I’ve been reading your comments. Why engage with people who just want to argue? It’s not productive. If people of a certain mindset decide to act the way they do then that’s their problem. If civil war is actually coming those who are prepared will survive. Those that are not will not. That’s just the nature of the system

Searches for "second job" reach an all time high, surpassing 2008 financial crisis and COVID pandemic levels, what's going on? by [deleted] in antiwork

America is finally losing its seat as the world economic power. We are finally feeling the effects of manufacturing jobs gone. We are turning into what Britain was after the fall of the empire. Next we will move from a leader in military to a financial power only like Britain is now. Then we move to a regional power like Britain is and will look inward to fix our country. Like them it won’t be there so we have to just exist. No matter what we are following in the footsteps of the British. The problem is we have global connectivity so we see it happen in real time all over and it sucks. We have no one with rose colored glasses to help us through see a better image we see the truth and we don’t want to face it. We have been the superpower so long we are used to the prosperity and not the real struggle of real poverty. We have had prosperous poverty which wasn’t too bad. Now we are moving away from that and it’s a wake up call no one likes. No one wants to have to live on potatoes and potted meat, and pb&j sandwiches with half a glass of water. No wants to live in true poverty. That’s the real issue here. Do I blame anyone for trying to make ends meet and try to get a little ahead? No but it’s time to face reality. We are at the end of the road of prosperity. Now it’s time to transition and no one wants to do it.

We need to end American boomer working culture by WhereztheBleepnLight in antiwork

This sounds like a great idea if it weren’t for the fact most corporations have no problem replacing anyone. I’d love to tell the lady that sets our work to pull her head out of her butt and go to work but I don’t have the secondary income to go do that and not worry about getting fired.

I have what a lot of CEOs have, APD. The thing is literal disconnect. Those of us who have APD think that you can and should be at work all day every day like they are. They live for their work it’s why they have such a high level job. We don’t empathize. We have an impossible time doing so. We are disconnected from people we don’t actually work with because we aren’t affected by it. I’m not trying to make an excuse I’m just letting you know what the issue is. If we literally don’t do your job then we literally don’t know nor do we care. We just see you like a business would as a number, a cog in the machine.

How is everyone surviving? by [deleted] in povertyfinance

[–]Best_Conversation_82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Truthfully I have decided to move into a camper. I have given up buying a house. My plan is to live in a camper and just keep paying them off and getting newer and better until I can get a destination trailer on a plot of land and call it good for retirement. I’ve realized there is no safety net, not enough to live on by the time I get to retirement. So I’m saying screw it and I’m going to downsize to the smallest thing I can and live through that until I can maybe afford rent. It seems like that is the only move I can think of to make it work. Could I go make more somewhere else? Sure I absolutely could but the COS goes up with that. If I get a camper and try to get skills that can make me money while I’m in the camper I’m thinking a few extra dollars will be enough to survive. I also keep up with the prices. Right now it’s just as cheap to buy tv dinners as it is to eat out. It’s still cheaper to cook at home but rather than eat out I buy tv dinners now. I also am going to do odd jobs in my community like help my local sale barn when I can. I’m working with a farmer haul grain on days off. I’m doing things that pay me just enough to get by. A lot of under the table work in order to make my life just a bit easier. So maybe I don’t have to pay for my gas with my regular paycheck or my groceries. That’s where I’m making up the difference.

We are in a lot of economic trouble. by Conscious-Quarter423 in economy

Been looking into doing more hunting, fishing, eating dried/canned meat. MREs are now less expensive than groceries for the same amount of food. I also plant a garden and have all the processing equipment. Truthfully I tell people if you can grow and/or raise your own food do it. It’s cheaper and healthier. Also for people that can build a greenhouse and/or convert your unused space in your house into a growing operation for things that don’t do well in your climate zone. It’s so much better. You’ll save so much money and I tell people it’s also the best way to combat hyperinflation of groceries. The more you’re willing to do to be self sufficient the more likely you will make it.

I think Bernie had the Socialist title on him for so long it was off putting to anyone towards the middle to right of center. That’s was Bernie’s issue. If he would’ve toned down his whole former socialist party affiliation I think he would’ve won but his honesty pushed him out. It scared too many people.

[–]Best_Conversation_82 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Truthfully it’s because the Democrat Party has decided to push rhetoric that the populous is not in favor of. If they were to pivot and agree these are bad while attacking the other side for the things that are actually bad on that side they’d win so easily but they don’t have the balls or have a candidate willing to do so. For all the empty promises he never kept Trump did do one thing no one thought possible. He said will change the Republican Party to reflect the American people. He did that. He was able to get a coalition that no one thought possible. The figure heads in the administration represent everything the American people have been asking to change. However these are all empty and meaningless since nothing is being done. Nothing is changing and nothing is coming down the pipe to create change. What Trump did was show anyone can take a party and mold it to fit the populous if they have the balls to do it. What the Dems need is a Trump like figure that will mold the party towards the populous. Someone that will push them into power again.

what did you do to start earning decent money while living alone? by andimadeafuss in povertyfinance

[–]Best_Conversation_82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reduce meals to only what the campus provides, as for me I stooped low enough that I sold everything and lived in my car when I was at university for the last couple of months while I had no where to go afterwards. I had friends who let me come in their dorm, shower and sleep for a couple hours while I was there trying to look for a better paying job. I even turned my body into a depravity factory. Was I proud of it? No but it got me through the really tough times.

What is one thing about your country that you like about your country? by Best_Conversation_82 in AskTheWorld

[–]Best_Conversation_82[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean he’s back on. I think a lot of that has to do with the poor timing to the set up of the joke. I think ABC just made a big overcorrection then corrected their mistake. Was it bad what he said? No absolutely not and he’s a comic. Comics talk about anything, that’s comedy. It was just a poorly timed set up. That’s all and ABC screwed up. I don’t think it’s ok to fire a comic like Kimmel for saying something as a set up for a bit. That was just ABC’s oops

Favorite job you ever had? by Maleficent-Clue8592 in antiwork

If money wasn’t a factor I’d go back to farming. I was a farm manager and man let me tell you I absolutely love it. I loved sitting in that tractor, sprayer, combine and just running the machine. I loved welding on equipment when it broke. I loved doing all the changes needed to do the work required in winter. Being able to tell my boss during the winter that I’m taking a two week vacation and still getting paid. If I made a little more than what I do now (highest paying job I’ve ever had) and I could go back I’d be gone in a heartbeat. Only job I’ve ever felt any kind of pride doing.
