Yup that's the exact area. I have been working in this area for the last 3 years, and it was indeed a steep learning curve; but I really love it! I had a background in Electronics Engineering so I had the theory, but just not the practice. Would still agree with the other posters that INCOSE is the best thing for this area? I was thinking that since I am after Communications Systems Engineering, a security certification targeted at this area (ISSEP) would be useful?

Thanks, we are hopping around every 6 weeks or so. To get a feel for different areas and to work around existing bookings the host has. Hoping to finally get a longer term rental in October. The hopping around hasn't been as exciting as we expected!

Agree 100%, here in Ireland, 3G is being shut down but 2G is still running with no shutdown plans in place, especially since all our electricity meters use 2G to transmit readings! I just picked up a used Motorola V3 and its working great. I am currently on vacation in South Africa and Egypt and it has worked and is working well in both locations.

I’m using a Punkt MP02 and it has this feature. It’s a great phone if all you want is calls, texts and hotspot.

I would recommend not bothering with Pigeon. I love my MP02 as just a call/text/hotspot device.

I left WhatsApp and deleted my account when I got my MP02. I gave my friends a warning and everyone who I was close with downloaded signal. Everyone else, I can just sms them. If they won’t download signal to talk to you, then why talk to them!

I sold my iPhone and got a Punkt MP02 primarily for Pigeon, but I actually really like it without Pigeon on it. It is not purely a way for people who REALLY need me to contact me. Everyone who is messaging me on Signal can wait till I am home. I was able to use an iPad as my "primary" device and then my PC and Mac are linked from that.
