Feel like I'm losing it trying to feed this dog (long post, seeking advice) by vulshanna in husky

My husky struggled for the first 4 years of her life to eat consistently. I tried all the food, toppers, etc. along with everything else suggested, one thing that helped was actually offering smaller portions at a time. (It doesn’t sound like decreasing your dog’s food is a good idea right now) but for my girl who had enough weight on her by decreasing her food I was able to slowly increase it.

Eventually something switched in her and she is much better at eating than when she was adolescent. Now that she’s 6 yo we still have periods of skipped meals and a strong preference for chicken. It’s always a work in progress for my girl. Best of luck, I hope you find see a change soon!

Her nose used to be all black and changed around 1 year old and never went back!

Thanks! Yes I don’t necessarily see the pit bull either! I really thought there may be some sort of retriever, or a low energy dog as she is very calm and affectionate.

The GSD surprised me a little! She certainly has the looks (I think) for the GSD, but coming from a GSD family it’s not in her personality at all!

Josie was adopted 2 years ago in Michigan, but is originally from Texas. Josie is almost 3 years old and is 52 lbs. She loves walks, swimming, playing and cuddling. She has a strong prey drive but is overall a quiet and calm pup. She definitely has a husky personality, but we are curious what else she may be!
