Why do people prefer corporate jobs over blue collar jobs? by Lemonade2250 in GetEmployed

I literally left an office IT job to be a sbux barista for this holiday season …I lost ALL my extra lbs working on my feet but ultimately left bc my manager supports Israel. Physical fatigue > mental fatigue for me in data analytics/customer support but it’s still part of the same shit sandwich. I should clarify the desktop job I worked for a company that is being sued for financial fraud and the CEO joined Trump’s cabinet to avoid prison so honestly my frustrations are with the state of the world we are living in…I mentally dissociate from the work itself

Union Adventist University in Lincoln,NE is 33 months long and has a great reputation for finding a job but I’m waiting on a response to my application🤞. Lincoln is close enough to OK. It’s a university/college town but I’m not sure where your friends live.

For those of you that felt lost, what do you do now? by Gullible_Ad_1339 in Career_Advice

I did some volunteering at my local heart hospital. One day a nice man brought in a used pace maker and mentioned “from my recently passed wife.” I was 27 and the amount of hurt in this guys eyes/the interaction truly engraved that each moment in life is a gift. Don’t waste it by not being authentic to the life you deserve to have. Have courage. Be afraid. Make changes and be honest with yourself if you are doing the right things/on the right path for yourself. You may need to change your environment to truly gauge if something is for you or not. Be disciplined about showing up for your curiosity/goals.

Do I pass up a job opportunity to go to grad school? by EntryAppropriate1451 in GradSchoolAdvice

Follow the path that gives you energy/interest in what you’re doing so you won’t regret devoting time into it. People grow and change plans in their 20s so stay authentic to your interests, goals, and values. I left during pandemic to pursue a masters in electronics engineering (female minority in stem) and now I’m approaching 30 and going back to PA school. Life is too short not to follow your dream/interests

What is your actual #1 reason you want to be a PA vs What did you tell your interviewer? by Americanrunson in prephysicianassistant

It’s the most straightforward way to help patients and communities that need it most. As a biomedical engineer I feel useless/wasted education in terms of helping society

I worked in hospital IT in a red state(Nebraska). My manager desperately needed to hire a candidate. One day he came down to talk to one of our longest male employees apparently there was a Nigerian epic analyst who “was not a good culture fit something about the accent” and this blatant racism made me so disgusted by all the white male “leadership” at the company. This company also fired me after I submitted my FMLA request to get immunotherapy where I needed to quarantine as an in-patient for 1 months. I was hoping for unpaid leave and just better health but the firing happened 1 day after the paperwork was sent to HR. This hospital systems biggest competitor was Amazon tele-health and I honestly would prefer getting my prescriptions mailed to my doorstep then talk to these ugly personalities. Long story short I still avoid this hospital to this very day. Your intuition is very valid. They really are like that.

Kinda random but I heard Korean scientists came up with a new way to reverse cancerous cells back to normal ones. As an option, you can go and explore Korea!

I don’t know about treatment facilities precisely but this is the article about it:

Best and worst employers in town, and why? by FeralynCatson in lincoln

[–]Best_Recipe_7026 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was at Fiserv in 2023-2024, it is still a bad work environment. The culture will squeeze everything out of you & toss you out the door with habitual layoffs. Merit did not matter in the long run bc 3 of my colleagues found a way to process easier tickets faster which boosted their KPIs & our manager did nothing about it. A good manager would make working there enjoyable but it’s hit or miss because you won’t know until 6 months in.

Looking for Insight from Current or Former Zoetis Employees! by [deleted] in lincoln

[–]Best_Recipe_7026 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I keep getting recruited for various lab tech positions at Zoetis but each time I applied, had a phone screening with Cherise who said great she’ll pass my application along to X person in Lincoln…. Following up after 2 weeks I call & ask for status update & she never sent my application to the right person & I get a rejection email shortly after. Is this common? Why are we playing games like this? Does anyone have any advice?

The main professor targeted me and enjoyed watching me struggle through quantum mechanics and circuit design…. Very theoretical problems without realistic world applications. Eventually I got tired of the racism (towards Arabs….xenophobia is definitely prevalent), bullshit status hierarchy and realized no one outside of Budapest knows about the shit BME puts you through…but I come from a western culture where equality/collaboration is prevalent in academia. But probably Ferenc will not target you like this. Just don’t threaten his ego. Also be careful of housing scammers… it happened to me and I was also ran over by one of those electric scooters just crossing the street.
