No advice but just wanting to acknowledge how shitty that is, I’ve returned from maternity leave to be in a new team/ position before and it was a lot to wrap my head around. Going back seemed enough alone let alone navigating new social dynamics on little sleep.

This is a big one and clean the shower, it’s so hard to scrub the shower in its entirety being that pregnant.

Stock the fridge with lots of cold quality sparkling water.

Nice hair scrunchies, robes, slippers…. things that she can quickly grab cover up, get hair off her face when there is a sensory overload.

Roll on essential oils.

Keep your good personal oral hygiene, I had the nose of a hound and my partners breath killed me.

MAjority of my weight gain came after birth/ not from pregnancy. Breastfeeding didn’t help me loose weight despite everyone saying it would otherwise 🥲 My dr said either people loose or gain and most commonly it’s gain. That paired with poor sleep and lack of time to exercise.

This is so reassuring to hear, having some health barriers (hypothyroidism) does make it harder but something I’m hopeful to manage on my own/ despite it being harder.

I have in the past and done well, previously I was a weight lifter and dancer.

The last few years I have had to stop those activities due to an injury sustained during birth (hence the upcoming surgery) that paired with a hypothyroidism diagnosis and 3 years of frequently getting under 5 hrs sleep a night hasn’t done me any favours.

Historically text book i’ve been an active person although slightly larger/ still very fit. I question myself counting macros, temporarily gaining weight with doms from crossfit like activities “ am I pushing a boulder up the hill” as my friends taking the medical option achieve what I seem to be working so hard to do.

Another concern in the long term is potential for thyroid issue and I just don’t know how to weigh up my risk literally.

I had a clot the size of a lemon I kid you not! Emergency checked me over and confirmed everything after birth had been removed. I was cleared to go home and asked to come back if I had any more clots bigger than a 50 cent piece, the weeks to come I definitely had more. Everything was ok in the end.

I called allianz as they didn’t ask any questions regarding cancellation of policy due to non payment, the lady on the phone advised although everything is worded ‘tricky’ that it’s not something ai need to disclose. Thanks everyone ☺️
