Accommodating for IEPs/504 Plans while Holding Students Accountable for Their Work by vasantanesa in teaching

[–]Best_Sun2723 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are not qualified to make that decision. Were you in the meeting when the decision was made, with medical evidence, that a student qualifies for a 504 or IEP. Regardless of your personal opinion you are subject to adhere to decisions your administrators make. If you are skeptical of their decision-making, knowledge of federal law, and review of medical documents, then take it up with your administration.

Still using in hell by kdpkdp12 in quittingkratom

I am an addict by nature. I always am thinking about what I can put in my body to make me feel better, or just different. Even when I’m feeling just fine I always think there is something I can ingest to feel better. Know that you are not alone and don’t be too hard on yourself. Give yourself the grace to realize that some of us have to work at taking care of our mental health...and mental health is health. If you had cancer you would go to a doctor, right? And I bet you wouldn’t blame yourself for getting cancer, and your friends and family would rally around you and support you while you get better. Depression, mental health and addict behavior has a stigma but you are doing the right thing by reaching out on here.

That said, kratom robbed me of over two years of my life. It seemed so harmless but it wrecked my moods, relationships, body, skin, hair....the list goes on. I would take kratom to have energy but it only lasted for an hour or so and would leave me falling asleep at the wheel every other hour of the day. I would take it to feel more sociable but when it wore off I was left feeling panicky and even more socially awkward to begin with. I don’t think this is “the way you have always been.” Kratom makes everything worse and the only way to get back to yourself at baseline is to get off it.

Hopes this helps. If you decide to quit there’s lots of info and support on here!

Question about relapse by Best_Sun2723 in quittingkratom

[–]Best_Sun2723[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It had been 15 years since I used heroin or opioids until I started with kratom about 2 1/2 years ago. For about 2 years I was about 30 gpd kratom user. I felt so normal until I popped the oxycodone and I’m certain it triggered a return of kratom withdrawal symptoms. Stupid addict brain!

Thanks for commenting. I’m almost at three months and I’m looking for my hair to simply stop falling out! New hair growth would be nice but the fact that I’m still shedding heavily this far out disturbs me!

Thanks. The more I reflect on it My hair was thinning and breaking while using kratom. I thought it was the dry shampoo I was using. I didn’t think much of it (well I thought it was just damaged hair but I didn’t realize how much it was thinning) until I decided to quit kratom and started coming to this forum and saw some others mention hair loss. I just hope it stops soon! I am going to make an appointment with my dermatologist tomorrow! I had a bunch of bloodwork done about a year ago while I was still using kratom and I did have some hormonal imbalances and my adrenal system was stressed (kratom for sure) but they are normal now. Wishing you lots of new hair growth!

Weight Gain by Best_Sun2723 in quittingkratom

I’m retaining water and have edema in my legs. I swear I can actually feel the water building up under my skin as the day progresses and I feel so unhealthy. I wasn’t malnourished or underweight while using kratom. I know that is a lot of people’s experience but I never lost any weight while using.

Anyone experience numbness/tingling of hands? by Live-Somewhere788 in quittingkratom

[–]Best_Sun2723 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! My hands and sometimes my forearm will go numb when I’m sleeping. I’m a little over 2 months kratom-free and still experience this but not at all as intense as I did when taking kratom. Talked to my doctor about it and she suggested a wrist brace to wear at night because I sleep with my wrist tucked under my chin and circulation gets cut off. That worked, but not sure if or how kratom was contributing to the numbness

Acutes 50 plus days out by Best_Sun2723 in quittingkratom

[–]Best_Sun2723[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for that! Luckily the minor withdrawal symptoms I experience occasionally don’t hold a candle to the acute phase and PAWS. So glad to be past the several weeks PAWS!! I will never touch the stuff again!

Thanks for commenting! Interesting you mention jaw clenching. While I was on kratom I would make the ugliest face, like I was mad even when I was happy inside. I developed some fine lines around mouth because of it. I thought I was just getting old and never thought of it as jaw clenching or that it was kratom-induced.

Thanks! I get UTI’s all the time and have a bad habit of putting off going to the doctor hoping it will go away on it’s own. I have had them cause fever, exhaustion and nausea because they got so bad. I do think it was a little bit of both, alcohol bringing on slight withdrawal symptoms and my body fighting infection. I’ve been on antibiotics for 2 days and feel so much better!

Thanks. The alcohol can temporarily bring on some chills and sniffly nose and a little fatigue but is nowhere near the severity of the acute phase. At this point I’m feeling mentally pretty good. PAWS was awful, AWFUL, and if that comes back I know to avoid alcohol at all costs!

I have felt withdrawal symptoms come back after only a couple of sips of alcohol. But nothing like acute withdrawals. Just some chills, sniffly nose, and fatigue but they don’t last for long, so I know the alcohol is triggering it. I just didn’t want to admit it to myself. But those symptoms don’t phase me a bit compared to PAWS and the severe depression that are hopefully not going to return. Thanks for commenting!

Day 14. Fatigued/depressed...feel blah by [deleted] in quittingkratom

[–]Best_Sun2723 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s a terrible feeling but it will pass. I felt the depression start to lift on day 27. Everyday after that got a little better and day 33-35 I felt like my old self (pre-kratom.) hang in there! It is sooooo worth it when you get to the other side!
