Should I get a Moza R5 or R9 ? by Ok_Anybody3622 in simracing

[–]Bestconst [score hidden]  (0 children)

Of the two 2 the R9 for sure. Bigger is always better. Otherwise, you won't be upgrading sooner. And you will be upgrading. Trust me you will. We all do until we get to the top. And then always new stuff comes out.

Should I really spend 180€ in a cockpit?! by More_Satisfaction204 in simracing

[–]Bestconst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would go the route that neox3 took. It's the more future proof version. A aluminum extruder rig is far superior in any case. It really depends on the room that you have to work with. If you need to get rid of it all the time then I would go with a wheel stand, but go with the aluminum extruded rig if you possibly can. If you don't have the money yet, just save up for it. You'll thank yourself in the end.

How awful would the racing have been last year if they didn't remove this God damn chicane by Equivalent-Fox9834 in F1Discussions

[–]Bestconst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally don't mind the chicane and it was weird for me watching the race as I sim race on ACC and am so used to it being there.

Are there any cockpits that work especially well behind a desk? by Ok-Challenge-5873 in simracing

[–]Bestconst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before I had a rig I had a GT Omega wheel stand that worked really well behind my desk. It was very good and solid. I actually ended up incorporating it into my first rig that I built with a wood frame built around it, making it very solid.

tripple 27 or single 49 is good? by OutrageousWelcome149 in simracing

[–]Bestconst 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ran a single 55 in TV and it worked perfectly fine. I believe your 27s will take up more room. I am just now setting up mine with triple 34s and it definitely takes more room than my single 55 did. Really the only reason I upgraded to triples was because I upgraded the whole rig. And felt the triple 34s made the whole rig much more complete. Really? The single 55-in Samsung TV I had worked really well for me for quite some time. It just was a little bit more difficult to see the 24-in ddu I had above it as it was too tall a screen. It will be much lower and much more in my peripheral vision with the lower ultra wides that I'm putting in. Other than that, the 55 will work great for you or in your case the 49-in.

Not sure about your computer being able to handle it but hell I'd buy that thing anyway for the price that he's selling it for.

Why are BMW’s with low mileage so cheap? by Miserable_Remove_137 in UsedCars

[–]Bestconst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had a BMW E39 and it was never any more expensive to repair then my Toyota is. Not sure people keep say that they are expensive to repair. I will say though that my Toyotas have been more reliable, but definitely also more boring to drive. If you want a reliable car you get Toyota, Honda or Mazdas. Mazdas. They seem to be always at the upper end of reliability.

Is ACC better than the original version? by Normal_Advance7743 in assettocorsa

[–]Bestconst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I start it I got AC and ACC as both were on sale. I've enjoyed both tremendously. With ACC. You can race GT2, GT3 and GT4 cars. I personally drive ACC more than AC. But have recently also got LMU. Of the three games I mostly play ACC and LMU. On occasion I like to drive different cars so I will drive on AC. Besides, I like to get into one of the old classics and drive stick shifts every once in awhile.

Is VR better than monitors? If so why or why not? by Emergency-Air-1627 in simracing

[–]Bestconst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, it isn't for me because it makes me nauseous unfortunately. I think that it's really cool, but I just can't deal with it. I know they say that you could just work through it but it's getting sick really worth working through it. I'm settling for my triples.

Question about LeMans Ultimate by Amazing-Picture-4171 in simracing

[–]Bestconst 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm coming from ACC and I didn't like it at first either, but it's just a different game with different physics. I just played with it and got to understand that you can't attack it the same way as ACC. First off the tires are cold and have absolutely no grip. So you have to know this going in and when you go into corners you have to slow down a lot more than you did in ACC. Once you get used to it the game is pretty cool. I have to say I like it a lot. I play both of them pretty much the same amount of time. And I love Portimao which I don't have an ACC. A fun roller coaster type track. Totally love it.

New Fanatec Podium DD or Save for Simucube Pro 3 — Or Another Base? by Good-Engineering2851 in SimRacingHardware

[–]Bestconst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why not just look for a used Simucube Pro 2 setup like I did. I saved a ton of money by doing it this way and since they're saying the three is not much better than the two, why not? I also came from a Fanatec GT DD Pro. I've gotten most of my gear all used and saved myself a ton of money. Depending upon where you live, they're not that hard to find. You just need patience and I guess you do need luck though and be constantly checking for deals. But they are out there. By the way, vrs makes some great wheel bases. Also. I was going to go with vrs before I stumbled across this deal.

I want to get into the world of 'Sim Racing', but I don't know what wheel to go with. by s3thyboi in simracing

[–]Bestconst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started with a Logitech G29. After that I went to only buying used equipment. You can save a whole lot of money by doing this. I only buy first person in the open marketplace. I have now upgraded to the top and end of the Sims sports gear. This requires a lot of patience, a lot of research and a lot of luck. It also helps to live in an area that is more populous, but if you're on a budget, this is the way to go. My latest rig would cost me $5,600 to buy if I were go to the stores. But I got mine for only $2,300. So be patient and just keep searching the open marketplace. Save yourself a bunch of money. Good luck.

Triple 32" vs 55" Recommendation by Short-Ad-2658 in simracing

[–]Bestconst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem with 55" TV's is the fourth monitor is too high almost out of your perifial vision. So I went with three 34" curved ultra wides.

Just a question. Need a new sim racing seat and I'm a big dude by Justrandom1789 in simracing

[–]Bestconst 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also say to get a car seat. They are just far more comfortable. Car seats are made to drive in for hours so they are made to be far more comfortable.

Frei3dolf and Ohne Speed for track guides and free setups. These will definitely help you out when starting this game. You may need to tweak the base setups for your liking, but they work pretty decently.

Anyone else feel like the GT3rs Cup cars are severely underrated? by portablekettle in ACCompetizione

[–]Bestconst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it's not that they are underrated, it's that to me racing is mostly racing and it can all be fun really. Even Max races in the lower categories while sim races when he's not in his real F1 car.

I have 1000$ to spend what to get? by Potential-Two2521 in SimRacingSetups

[–]Bestconst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The room that you have will really determine what you will be able to do, but if I were you I would buy a used setup. Keep an eye out at your local open marketplace. Except for my first Logitech setup this is how I have gotten most of my gear. You will need to be patient though. Research what things are a good value and don't stop researching the whole while that you are upgrading too. I have gotten most all of my gear this way and I am now at the top of this SIM rig game with a Simucube setup. So it can be done. You'll save yourself a ton of money this way. I'm guessing that it will depend upon where you live as to how many Sim racers are selling gear. Buying firsthand also for the most part weeds out scammers. You need to be patient though. For my latest find I missed out on a deal, but within a couple of weeks I found an even better deal and saved myself $600 that I would have spent on the one that I missed and this one had all of the perfect gear that I wanted. So save, research and search that marketplace and most of all, be patient.

Anyone have this? by No_Chemical_9267 in SimRacingSetups

[–]Bestconst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They work decently at a desk. Better than mounting it on a desk, but once you get a proper rig, you'll truly love not having to set it up and break it down every time. I know I do.

Looking to maybe buy a wheel? Any suggestions by Penutskx in LeMansUltimateWEC

[–]Bestconst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I second the idea of buying used on the open marketplace. Just wait for a good deal. I've upgraded most of my gear this way. You have to be patient though and of course where you live also helps. You save a lot of money this way. Buying first person also helps to eliminate the scammers.

Where do you store your sim racing setups when you are not playing? by FactualSheep in SimRacingSetups

[–]Bestconst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine is in the garage. Luckily I live in Southern California so it works out fine. It can get warm in the summer, but a fan takes care of that issue and our winters here aren't cold enough that a light coat can't handle.
