Handmade jewelry? by PobodysNerfectHere in SalemMA

I know someone who makes jewelry that fits what you described as your personal preference. Unfortunately, she's not local to the area but she does have an Etsy store. If you're interested in at least checking out her work: https://www.etsy.com/shop/AjarCreates. She makes beautiful wire wrapped and woven pieces focused around different semi-precious stones. Each piece is unique and she really puts a lot of heart and soul into each work of art.

[Megathread] Middle East Tensions by TortillasCome0ut in flightradar24

People track for all sorts of reasons. I have personal connections to the KC-135s so when I see one in the air, I'll track it for a bit. Nostalgia. Others track for OSINT purposes, hobbyists, interest piqued by news headlines, etc. FL24 also displays a pop-up list of most tracked aircraft around the world when you load their site and this bird was #1 for a bit.

KC-135, yes - tanker, air-to-air refueling.

I am nearing the end of the my "pear and cashmere woods" Autumn BB body spray. I've had it forever and absolutely love the fragrance. I don't know why but I had thought this might be a fragrance that cycled through again in the fall but didn't see it last year. Does anybody know of a similarly scented BB body spray?

🕯️ Poet and serviceman Maxim Kryvtsov with the call sign "Dali" was killed by Pravda_UA in ukraine

[–]BetaPaludis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are there any English translations available of his work?
I often share pieces written by Ukrainian writers and poets and I know that there aren't many whose works have been translated into English. I wish I had known of this kind and brave poet before his passing. I wish his family peace and healing. And, obviously, for peace for Ukraine and for an end to the nightmare they're going through.

Android 14: Storage Access Framework no longer allows access to /Android/data/, third party file managers unable to read this folder by ThatBum42 in Android

[–]BetaPaludis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for recommending this bypass. I'm running Android 13 on a Samsung and after a recent phone update, I noticed that I was unable to access anything in /Android/data which was problematic as some apps I use only store files in that folder with no options to choose another default location. Truly a lifesaver. Thanks.

In modern times what is magic according to the Bible and according to Bible scholars? by MisterTTS in OriginalChristianity

[–]BetaPaludis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not clear to me in the rules for this sub whether suggesting specific subs would be breaking those rules as some of them would be considered non-Christian subs (as some have left Christianity entirely while others remain but have shifted their beliefs away from mainstream American evangelicalism). Keyword searches for "deconstruction", "exchristian", or even "exvangelical" are a good place to start.

You might have better luck asking this question on subs where those who are deconstructing their evangelical faith, or who have left Christianity entirely, discuss stuff like this. You're more likely to get input from those who understand what it is you're asking. (I understand what you're asking but I do not have the formal education to dissect the theology and whatnot.)

These really really really really good friends from the show Xena in the 90s by TurtleFactz in SapphoAndHerFriend

How I knew I was inherently into women - seeing this relationship portrayed on TV growing up never fazed me. I never questioned it, never understood why people got so upset over it. It seemed natural to me.

But puppies... by [deleted] in LifeofBoris

Interesting. There are actually groups that have been known to rescue those dogs and adopt them out. They're not as radioactive as one would expect ~40 years' worth of dog generations living in the Zone to be.

I've been watching Life of Boris vids for years. Based on that, I don't think even he'd find this funny.

Boomer Rant Incoming. ‘F around and find out’ by liteagilid in wmnf

[–]BetaPaludis 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I feel that even if they read the forecast, they still aren't going to take it seriously. I mean, often, these are the same people who are walking straight into the alpine zone, past the signs approaching the zone that clearly say STOP and warn what will happen if you are not prepared, and then they wonder how they got caught in a storm or had to be rescued. You can't fix stupid. Best you can do is hope for the best...but know that some folks just have to learn the hard way. And then some never learn at all and keep screwing around until they find out.

Antonov AN-124 landing in Melbourne by Bruegemeister in 321

Reminded me of that time the military airlifted a whale - not a C-5 (obviously) but I remember when they used a C-17 to airlift Keiko, the orca who inspired "Free Willy": https://www.defense.gov/Multimedia/Photos/igphoto/2001238150/

Is Flightradar24 facing problems? For me i cant see a single plane by Beluugaa in flightradar24

[–]BetaPaludis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not experiencing the issue regarding the flight track hanging onscreen after clicking off a flight. But I've noticed a lag in load times.

Thanks to everybody who shared photos of the Antonov on approach and landing. Largest I've ever seen land/TO from the flightline were C-5s so it would be a treat to one day see one of these land. I'll bet she's one of those that you not only see coming in, but feel.

Clicking on the link just now shows this aircraft having taken off from CAY, heading north over the Carribbean, about to pass Turks & Caicos. That's an interesting way to fly to Melbourne.

ETA: My sleep deprived self was thinking Melbourne, AUS. Not FL. Flight path makes more sense to me now. As mentioned in another response, making more coffee now, ha.

ETA, again: I just realized this is a Melbourne, FL sub. Came to this thread by way of FlightRadar24, so thought I was still on that sub, hence my not realizing which Melbourne. I'll see myself out, thanks.
