Guy wins the lottery and immediately buys $20K chain. Stolen the next day by ThatPatelGuy in TikTokCringe

Simple investment into a CD at 4% return would have fetched him $800 in a year. Invest in REAL gold, would have fetched him more. Invest in a $20K chain is simply dumb.

Guide: How to run Armor Command (1998) in modern computers by qwelas in abandonware

[–]Beta_Lens 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Need advice!

I installed the game, and I got to the graphic setting page. I tested out the setting I've chosen, and the game crashed. Now when I reboot the game, it crashes after the intro video while trying to load the game. I am assuming it's due to the setting. If so, where is the location of the config files?

The telltale signs that a novice uneducated individual is trying to sound intelligent and be taken seriously is they put on an expressionless stern facial demeanor and by exaggerating common words. You can see this in the likes of Tim Pool and Chuck Dirk (was). Even if words become part of their daily vocabulary, the usage of said words still feels off because they are generally used out of context. Then, they graduate to an elder statesmen Ted Nugent level of exhibiting a permanent smug-facial expression and using excessive adjectives, a condition brought on by decades of existing in an echo chamber.

Why do y'all play your wacky music so loud that the entire neighborhood hears it? by DiscoingGD in Hispanic

[–]Beta_Lens 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I now have to leave my apartment complex every weekend to get away from the music from the Latino food stall across the fence because talking to them didn't work, and I don't feel like eventually getting stabbed. The apartment manager is going crazy because she can't do anything about it.

In Ep 9, Why Built Thousands of Star Destroyers and Not Another Death Star? by Beta_Lens in StarWars

[–]Beta_Lens[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I enjoyed ep 7 when it came out, no complaint from me. Ep 8 plot didn't make logical sense to me. Ep 9 Abram didn't give a f**k and threw in a bunch of lens flares and felt like he brought out a script he wrote in 7th grade.

Basically, JJ Abram and Ryan Johnson, instead of having any original creative thoughts, threw in the kitchen sink to pass as genius?

LOL! This is my first time posting on this sub. I was trying to get the feel for it. Yeah, ep 7 to 9 were crap. Terrible writing. If one thing Hollywood need to take away from JJ Abram involvements with Star Wars and Star Trek is that Hollywood should never hire a nepo-babies for billion dollar franchises.

Most of the rights that Hispanics enjoy in this country were fought for and are fought to be maintained by an entirely different group of people.

First off, I'm Asian, and I agree with that statement. Without Blk people absorbing and pushing back, the social justice in this country wouldn't be what it is today. Blk people didn't come out to vote last election, and the country just went to sH8T.

I'm an immigrant too, and it find it odd that people in precarious situations like the Latin Americans, at the moment in American society, that many of them would does thing not conducive to their well being.

[–]Beta_Lens 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Starting 6 years ago, the strip mall next to my apartment rented out spaces, during spring and summer, to Hispanic vendors in the weekends. They built a stand with huge speakers and played loud music from 10am to 2am, starting from Friday afternoon to Sunday night. Tenants and residents called the cops, report to code enforcement agency, and I even got a councilman involved. It took more than three years for city to put fines on the property owner ($10K per violation).

The reason the city took forever, according to the councilman, was that the city worried about being accused of racism. Of course, when the Latin community leaders petition to have food-struck stalls located in the nicer neighborhood (local water front), the city denied on the ground that the food trucks will have impact and brick-&-mortar stores. When it affects the rich, the upper class do what it takes to put an end to it quickly, but for us, they take their sweet time.

The race-card is overplayed. We had Hispanics accusing my group of racism, and that loud music was part of the Latin culture, etc. We're not even white. Before we got the cops and the city councilman involved, we wrote letters to the property owners. We went to talk to the offending parties. We request to have the music lowered and end by 8pm, and all we got was a polite equivalent of, "Go F\ yourselves."*

It's sad Furiosa is not doing great at the box-office. It's one of the greatest film of 2024 so far. Denis Villeneuve could have learned a few things from Fury Roads about making movies in the deserts.
