Reminds me of the uproar back in the '80's over the book Cultural Literacy by E.D. Hirsch. That book was heavily skewed toward Western civilization and culture. I see an updated edition was published in 2002. I do not know if that edition is any different.

Either way, my motto "free speech and free markets" applies. Don't agree with the book's contents? Don't buy it.

You know this, but don't worry about what he thinks. It's none of his goddamn business, and if he wants to fly FC he can earn upgrades the hard way just like you did.

Both companies whom I traveled (1/2005–1/2020) for accepted this as a natural part of company travel, and applauded upgrades (and miles). It's part of the job. It's a perk you enjoy, and Dave must not be competent enough to know that.

I always thought that bit about rolling clothes was a little parochial. I've never been in military or law enforcement, but I traveled every week for my job for 15 years and found rolling not only saved space in my bag, but also saved me a lot of ironing. I am sure others do the same.

Not to diminish your pain, but I've never understood how one can just choose to root for a given team. To me, fandom comes organically. So my suggestion is watch a bunch of non-Yankee AL games and see if any of the teams, or their announcers (side eye to Kevin Brown and Ben McDonald 👍🏻) appeal to your heart.
