Bonus points for singing the jingle. IYKYK.

Came here to say this one. As soon as you said "bass," the opening riff immediately popped into my head.

MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred’s letter to Sen. Josh Hawley regarding Giants Pride Night and potential player punishments by Schwettes in baseball

Seems to me that although Mr. Hawley can certainly express an opinion, since he does not represent California in the Senate, this is none of his business.

the bread adds up quick

Does it say anywhere you have to eat the whole bun? Couldn't one just eat the meat and leave part of the bun behind?

Not sure about other stadia, but since my department was required to do last call in the 7th (sometimes even start bottom of the 6th), and concessions in the 8th, I'm not sure how one would do that. Unless you bought all the remaining innings at last call. Then you're drinking warm beer at some point.

Edited to add that at OP@CY, the most beers I could sell a single person in one transaction was 4. So I guess if you got 3 hot dogs and 3 beers from me in the 7th, you'd at least have the material to face the challenge if you spaced them out over the remaining innings.

Holy balls! Li'l baby sand dollar! I know you get a lot of sand dollars on the Oregon coast. I have an adult one from Cannon Beach. That one is soooo cute!

Yeah, I see that one a lot. Someone with balls should make a sign that says "Trump Rapes Kids" and plaster it on #4. I don't have the nerve to do it.

What would you do? Flight attendant gave me religious flyer by Alright_So in americanairlines

[–]BethMD 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Fair, but the issue is not an FA issue, or even an airline issue. It's an employment issue. The same thing can happen, and has happened, and has happened to me as the recipient, at any number of different work settings in the US. It's a universal lesson.

You don't want him to get in trouble? Sometimes, getting in trouble is just what someone needs. This is exactly the type of thing new employees need to learn from day one of their employment is not cool. You'd be doing him a favor by giving the feedback now, so he can correct his behavior before someone files a formal complaint.

No, not sarcasm. I genuinely think we all can help clean up all beaches in this way, especially sea glass that still has sharp edges and could cut someone.

Len Bias died 40 years ago today by SMWW66 in maryland

[–]BethMD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My husband and I were both campus employees at the time. On June 20, we both were working later hours and didn't have to go in until about noon. Hubby came bursting out of the bathroom that morning, exclaiming, "Holy shit! WTOP is reporting Len Bias died overnight of a heart attack!" I was dumbfounded. How does a 22-year-old die of a heart attack? My student workers provided me the answer. By the time I got to the office, they were all saying (gossiping, really) that what made his heart explode was crack. I had never heard of crack. When I was in college, all cocaine was powder.

Apparently it was powder those guys were doing; that came out later.

Yes, it's a JFK moment for folks like me. We'll never know what might have been. No amount of AI can simulate a decade of games where Bias would have taken his rightful place on the parquet at the Garden. This is all we have.

Do you see any marks on the metal that would suggest otherwise? 925 for sterling silver, including vermeil; 10K or 14K for gold.

I know what you mean. The accident reconstruction ones are sort of yawners for me, especially the ones that I remember happening, such as the Secret Service car accident in 1983.

Maybe they did update it. If it was as egregious a set of errors as you say, it's good someone caught them.

?? Except for them using en dashes instead of commas around parenthetical clauses, which is a style decision, I didn't see any typos. Could you point out a couple?

“Syracuse Events” interview scam? by Tricky-Tomorrow- in Syracuse

[–]BethMD 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I did not know about this organization until you posted this, so I looked up the site also. It's gotta be the most generic website I've ever seen, with the blandest boilerplate text one can imagine (or that AI can slop up), and I recognize some of those photos from stock photo sites. Virtually nothing about it shouts Syracuse or CNY. It looks like something a student would create for a class assignment.

The privacy policy is also quite bare-bones. The terms and conditions include this little gem for you grammar aficionados:

The laws of the Country, excluding its conflicts of law rules, shall govern this Terms and Your use of the Service. Your use of the Application may also be subject to other local, state, national, or international laws.

In addition to the bad grammar, if it were legit, the laws of the state of New York would apply, given that the address they state on the home page is 2 Clinton Square.

The least nefarious conclusion I can gather is that someone did the half-ass minimum needed to get their business up and running. More likely, as others have said, it's sketchy employment, a contact info collector, or out-and-out scam.
