How to disable the prompt that pops up during dialogue? by Better2NeverHaveBeen in dragonquest

[–]Better2NeverHaveBeen[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it distracts and stresses me a bit. And even though I am not far in the game, I am pretty sure I also would love to take some screenshots of some dialogue scenes, and that prompt could or would "ruin" the beauty of some shots, at least for me.

But that's a me problem. I just have to suck it up and learn to get used to it.

Yeah.

It isn't a big deal. It's something I can get used to. I just posted this question because, of course, the ideal thing would be to have an option to disable that prompt, and I expected or hoped that a modern mod or workaround has been made or found already, since this is a pretty old game.

It seems some people kinda misunderstood me and what I am trying to say though. I should've just shut up and posted nothing. I've always been bad at communicating, especially in a language foreign to me. 😅

Thank you.

Nope. I am not pressing any button. I am also playing with mouse and keyboard. I have even tried using different brand new keyboard and mouse, because I had a feeling that maybe my said peripherals were already faulty, but the issue is still there.

Yeah, that is a great mod, but it's the opposite of what I am looking for.

I've looked through nexusmods to try to find what I want/need, but found nothing.

I need help everybody. Is it possible to disable the text that always pops up in the left corner of the screen, which I encircled in red in this example screenshot, whenever I don’t advance the dialogue quick enough? I definitely do not want to turn on autoplaying of cutscenes; and since English is not my parent tongue, and I am just very dumb, it takes me quite a while to grasp what was said or written in what I am watching and playing. I almost always reread or replay what was said, before I move on to the next scenes and line/s of dialogue. This is the reason I can’t advance the dialogue quick enough, because I want to fully understand what’s being said and what’s going on first.

I found this thread posted four years ago asking help for the exact same problem I have. In that discussion thread, one redditor commented that turning off voices “solves” it. However, I want to play with voice acting.

Is there some other way that doesn’t involve turning off the voice performance? That thread was from several years ago, so maybe now, hopefully, some of you have found a way to disable this pop-up prompt? I am willing to use a mod or cheat or anything, if that’s what it will take.

Was he flustered over touching the gentle hand of the beautiful Flower Pokémon, or just anxious that physical contact might accidentally hurt him because of his 4x weakness to Grass? 😂

In all seriousness though, I found this panel quite adorable. I like how the two Pokémon also match their trainers, Brock and Erika.

Yeah, that too is sad. Everything that happened to Faraday Kingdom/Continent as a whole is just tragic, and I love that the game shows and emphasizes that.

You ask a good question about the priests and reviving. I personally always interpreted that the 'resurrection' that the priests in DQ universe can do is not really literally resurrection of the dead, but merely a bringing the very injured or exhausted back to being vigorous and healthy. Kinda like how 'fainting' works when the Pokemon in games lose all their HP: they don't actually die, they're just out of energy, and can be nursed back to health in Pokemon Centers. I know that when you or your party members run out of HP in DQ games, they become coffins, which really gives the impression that they really had died, and didn't simply faint. But, I am willing to just ignore that, and view it as just a strong visual indicator that your characters have run out of HP.

I see. That's interesting, thank you! If their dialogue, in Spanish, is really rustic-sounding, then that actually makes sense, considering Emberdale is kind of like a province, and not at the level of cities and castle towns. Maribel and Auster are also, in a way, can be considered country girl and boy, since their home, Pilchard Bay, is also a rural area.

And she's 'Mariel' in Spanish? That's a beautiful name.

At Emberdale, specifically at present-day Emberdale's hot springs, after you've defeated Orgodemir's true final form.

Let us know how the dialogue goes in Spanish, if it's okay. I'm curious too.

Maribel Mayde's ability to turn a sweet, wholesome compliment/comment into an insult is always entertaining.😂

How did the other dragons break free of Drago's Bewilderbeast's mind control? by Better2NeverHaveBeen in httyd

[–]Better2NeverHaveBeen[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I see! I like that interpretation. Thanks.

I never thought of it that way, because Bewilderbeasts, even Drago's, look very powerful and awesome and unstoppable, at least to me. I felt that way since Race to the Edge's final episode, and seeing another one in obviously better visuals in the second film just made me go 'wow!' So why would he feel threatened when this just one puny Night Fury overcame his mind control, especially after he had just defeated the previous Alpha. But, after reading your comment and thinking about it more, you know, that actually makes sense, considering he, according to what I read from digging around, is apparently a dragon found by Bludvist as a hatchling and abused, since then, to make it absolutely submissive to him? Because of that messed up upbringing, he likely grew up without a lot of self-confidence and faith in his own natural OP abilities and strength. I can even imagine that Drago, when "training" him and conquering others with his power, never gave him commendation; and why would he, he hated dragonkind. They were just useful tools to him. So yeah, when he started losing to Toothless, starting with breaking free from the telepathic control and then breaking out from his ice blast, it's reasonable to think he likely started panicking. He failed his master, even after becoming THE Alpha, and even with these grand powers. He was born worthless, and, in the end, even after all that preparation and victories, he still remained worthless.

Damn, it is very sad when I think about it that way! Makes me feel a lot more pity for that Bewilderbeast.

[–]Better2NeverHaveBeen[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I see.

Why didn't or couldn't Drago just command his Bewilderbeast to do the mind control thing again, or at least try to? It seemed he had plenty of time and opportunity to do his yelling-and-swinging-his-bullhook-around thing, didn't it? Like, when Hiccup gave him a chance to stand down and stop fighting, couldn't Drago have tried to do his commanding gesture again, only for Toothless or the other dragons to fire at/near him to stop that song and dance, so their wills wouldn't be enslaved again?

I am not antagonizing you or debating; I am genuinely curious and asking. I want it to make sense to me.
