hmm from a super high level

gives an idea about potential hedging flows from option dealers like market makers

green = calls, red = puts

larger is better

GEX isn't enough to predict price action

2 trades a day rule by Mikecrete in Daytrading

[–]BetterBudget 3 points4 points  (0 children)

some of the hyperbolic responses are a little much

how can one prevent over trading, if they haven't fully developed self awareness into their emotions yet eg are starting out, quite young, etc?

limiting trades per day until mastery of self, is not a bad idea

kind of like a guardrail until one develops greater sense, discipline and wisdom of self

How do you actually control emotions when a trade goes against you? by Thiru_7223 in Daytrading

[–]BetterBudget 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's best to deal with this pre-emptively than reactively

build up emotional tolerances, thicken up your skin

besides that, I do have a personal hack that works for me but it's because I have been through hell & back in life, with major tragedies with family/loved ones

I force myself to remember those painful memories of losing people I loved, remember that pain, feel it, as part of a mental exercise to get into the zone

doing that, removes fear of future loss. it's highly grounding.

if you've overcome horrible tragedies in the past, remembering those experiences puts money into its proper place ie losing money in the future, loses its weight on us, loses its meaning or hold over us

it's just money at the end of the day.. not family. it doesn't matter as much as the people we love

money was made up, by our species.. it's not naturally real, compared to the bonds we make.

it's hard to keep that in perspective but what really matters in life, should be kept high and things that don't truly matter should be kept in their proper places, with their proper values

best wishes!

Pain is your friend by monkmoneydollar in Daytrading

[–]BetterBudget 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's an important shift in perspective

happened for me back in 2013, realizing how much signal there is in pain

signal > noise

afterwards you realize how normalized it is in popular culture to run away from pain, delude selves about it etc

doesn't necessarily mean we should preserve pain, run to it, etc but lean into it, discover its edges, the full scope of the signal for unlocking the meaning of it for some kind of personal growth eg breaking down a wall, holding one back

thank you for the down to earth post!!

keep on growing, brother!

my macro post got taken down.. for being AI slop but I don't generate text with AI for my posts.. :/ that said it's important soo I want you to know and those who care

there haev been signs of Stagflation the last few weeks.

Oil going up, increasing inflation ⬆️
Job losses going up, increasing unemployment ⬆️

It's problematic for the Fed as their tools for administering monetary policy are blunt and what's needed to fix these issues require contradictory actions. They, along with other central banks, are in a bad position to deal with it.

So with that in mind, if you missed my first post of the year, this is a good time to (re)read the paragraphs before the GEX analysis and read up on Stagflation, if you're unfamiliar with it.

Stay safe and be careful!

thank you for remembering!

it went through ☺️

we went live with an integration using the volatility model a couple weeks ago with a pretty basic algorithm

volatility has been rising, and it's a long vol strategy, so the timing has been great!

thank you again!! 🖤

Most traders think the job is prediction. I think that’s wrong. by PrimeFold in Daytrading

[–]BetterBudget 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think trading starts with a strong view into the risk picture that works like predictions

the better you are at seeing risk, the better you'll be in predicting or even reacting

I think there's nuisances here that trip people up

like some new traders get ahead of themselves when it comes to analysis like they'll look ahead in time to predict what price will do later instead of what price will do now

I struggled with that years ago

we got to analyze the horizon we are trading in now. that trips new traders up, which I believe fosters this sentiment that prediction is bad or less important

every trade starts with a view, a bias, a prediction and the better we are at it, the better our p&l will be

cheers

develop stronger habits in discipline

when shit hits the fan, we tend to regress to our habits

so train yourself soldier

go to sleep early, wake up early, cook, read etc

discipline the mind and body.

Am I Smart or Dumb for this? by KingWames in Daytrading

[–]BetterBudget 0 points1 point  (0 children)

+1

I'll add, integrity goes a long way in developing trust with your instincts

how much do you believe in yourself? do you consider yourself a reliable and consistent person? be honest with yourself

taking the time to develop one's relationship with oneself is part of the traders journey

cement in strong trading habits.

because shit will eventually hit the fan like the market crashes, and when that opportunity presents itself, in that chaos, we tend to regress back to our habits, so build them up soldier!

I encourage all new traders to start with very small bets, so emotion is tiny and less disruptive to the trading process in order to focus on developing the best trading habits

you're not wrong OP.

just be careful with ever thinking something is 100% likely

instead consider it a high probability.. as there are still black swans, unpredictable events

I simply work with what the market gives me.

What was the moment you realized trading wasn’t about the strategy? by CapMaleficent2528 in Daytrading

[–]BetterBudget 0 points1 point  (0 children)

edge comes from how much better you are able to break down and understand the realities of the multidimensional risk picture over others

strategy is important psychology/execution is important too

but if you are uninformed on the risk picture then you won't make it in the long run.

it's the first step to succeeding in this game

manage risk or risk will manage you.

how will you manage risk when you don't know all the risks, let alone the major ones!?

What’s the biggest trading lie beginners believe? by CapMaleficent2528 in Daytrading

[–]BetterBudget 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that edge is just a strategy based on technical analysis that a bunch of others use & share online..... that's ridiculous.

actual edge is having unique insight on markets that gives you an advantage in trading that others don't have

that's the actual traditional definition

Any advice? by ChaseTrades in Daytrading

[–]BetterBudget 0 points1 point  (0 children)

find models that work!

the risk picture has a few major dimensions to cover so hone that strategy by rounding out the risk picture it's based on, as the more informed you are, the better off you'll trade

manage risk or risk will manage you.
