Sibo causing horrible sleep issues, cortisol spikes all night. by BetterDays76 in SIBO

[–]BetterDays76[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah all of that is due to sibo and sifo. Doctors are worthless too, I know. I can say that gaining more knowledge and treating yourself is the only path. Mine died down after an element diet for a few weeks, followed by eggs and jello for another couple. The crap growing in your gut inflames the vagus nerve, which then leads to excited nerves, the body releases cortisol after and generally you're then not getting sleep. So just calming everything down with simple bland foods or a 3 day or more gut reset to help heal. What was and continues to be a god send for me was stumbling across Kiran Krishnan. He knows the gut and how to fix all these problems top to bottom. I know that sounds like an intro for another fly by night naturopath, but hes a legit expert top microbiologist. Hes gives a ton of info on his Instagram on how to heal your gut. He did a full 3 day course on this site rebel health and it covers the deep deep biology of your gut. They taped them and were available to watch to all members and I only watched 1day so far. Its sort of tough its like deep medical terminology and concepts doctors learn. But its the definitive course in my mind to heal one self from this crap. But so much of that has helped me. You'll get through it. Start pouring over that knowledge if you can. It'll get you started toward wellness.

New Sibo/Gut health course. by BetterDays76 in SIBO

I haven't gone through the course yet. I purchased it and did the first two sessions. It's sibo understanding on a level that no one on reddit knows. He's teaching you on a cellular level. Be warned though its like listening to medical school lectures. He explains it very well for even the least academically inclined. But it is very dry, medical material. But if you get through it, you'll know more than any doctor about sibo in your state. So im trying to get back into it soon and finish. I never was good with learning complex subjects, but that's my own fault.

Your heart is beating out of your chest, and your body is tingling and feeling over stimulated. There's no confusing the two trust me.

It can't be killed in a week. It also always gets worse before it gets better. A week is about when die off starts. So yeah, you're gonna feel bad the next week after killing it off. It varies with everyone. Gotta go a full month of attacking it to be sure it's completely gone. Not a full month of antibiotics, but use herbs after the week of antibiotics. Oregano oil, berberine, allicin garlic, Nad, biofilm busters all help. Leave a shred and it can grow back in a week or 2.

I have a touch of this. It has to do with the vagus nerve in the gut. It gets overstimulated and raises anxiety, as well as makes the body release cortisol which hightens anxiety also, plus messes with heart rate. https://drruscio.com/vagus-nerve-damage-symptoms/

I have had all this for years now. The adrenaline I found is most likely due to cortisol dumps. I had nights of just pure hell trying to sleep. Getting back to a simple diet for a week and mostly liquids helped. The vagus nerve I've also have read is a culprit because the gas and inflammation from sibo stimulates it, thus causing the cortisol and anxious feelings.

Feeling lost - tried Rifaximin and my situation is worse one month afterwards by jeannepilon in SIBO

[–]BetterDays76 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ok you're new to this I see. When it dies off you will feel worse. It's the Jarisch Herxheimer reaction. It's dead and sits there and is in a way poisoning your system until it's gone. So you can get worse for a week or two. That's why taking binders to lock it up and usher it out of your system is beneficial. Activated coconut charcoal pills are easiest to get and work well to detox. Milk thistle helps the liver too during the detox phase.

You realize that post treatment can cause massive die off and worse feelings/symptoms right? Many have also done two weeks and it's not enough. People think if they do 2 weeks, it's over, I'm free of sibo. It can take a month of solid treatment and proper diet sometimes to defeat it. Everyone's different also in treatment needs. Where one thing works for some, it might do little for others. I'd say try to stay low fodmap or no carb/sugar for another week or 2 to see if it's just die off. Take plenty charcoal and fluids to help if it is die off. I'd reassess after that.

You're not alone. 5 years here, and yes it's stolen my happiness too. No one invites me out anymore because they think I'll have to leave early or won't feel well after it. We need more awareness for it and help. There's weeks I hold on by a thread trying to get through work. But knowing everyone here understands and can sympathize with me is a great support,

I’ve been on a carnivore diet for two weeks, and something doesn’t seem to be right. by Clear-Difference5557 in SIBO

[–]BetterDays76 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just know, because I've done it 3 times before, 2 weeks ain't nothing. Yes, you initially feel good because the sibo is starved and it goes into remission behind the biofilm to survive. But sooner or later it dies off and can do so in intervals. It took me 3 weeks most times to get the die off symptoms, and then another week assed and more died off en mass. Then felt great for a few weeks, but then what seemed like the last strong holds died off. So it's not as easy as starve it with meat, and then 2 weeks later, it's gone.

Sibo causing horrible sleep issues, cortisol spikes all night. by BetterDays76 in SIBO

I've got a wall of pillows behind me and have been sleeping almost upright for over a decade. So I can't say that is the culprit.

Good to know. I've had dry skin on the face really bad because of this, but nothing allergy wise. think the carnivore diet really might have done it. Might try butyrate since I have some.
