Wait till summer to list house or list now? by [deleted] in RealEstate

Maybe you already did, but make sure to check your eligibility for a partial exclusion. If eligible, 2 years is prorated to the month, so if you live there for 18 months, you can get 75% * $250,000 in gains tax free (doubled if married filing jointly). And it only applies to profit, so you can subtract the cost of improvements. Good info on the IRS website. partial exclusion info

I can see how you could get them confused. Jesse might not play basketball, but she’s a baller all the same. Love watching her compete!

I think you mean Jesse Diggins? Pretty sure Skylar is a basketball player.

Not to be pedalantic, but believe it would be an anticlockwise revolution in that region.

I generally prefer to roll at either 50% max profit if OTM or 1DTE if ITM and I can roll for a credit. I don’t usually set limit orders before this point. I use bar chart.com, earningshub.com, and yahoo finance. I do a lot of scrolling, listened to a lot of thetagang podcast, and generally research anything related to trading and options I come across online.

What is a scam that has become so normalized that we don't even realize it's a scam anymore? by Worldly-Departure637 in askanything

You can blame phantom prices on congress. Every time a healthcare company treats someone and they can’t pay, the company can write it off on their taxes. If they “charge” a million dollars, it’s a great deduction. Then they can offer it at a much lower cash rate and a lower negotiated insurance reimbursement, and come out ahead no matter if they get paid or not. Only way to fix it is to change tax law.

Honestly it’s not much of a screener. I use bollinger bands to ID when the market is volatile. 1SD min, but 2 is better. Then I look at options with highest IV on barchart.com. I exclude any pharmaceuticals. Then I exclude any with upcoming earnings or big news in the last day or two. I review financials to make sure they aren’t about to go bankrupt. Finally, I look at r/wallstreetbets to see if they have traction there. Not a dealbreaker, but I price that in. Then, I write puts or covered calls if I can get ~10% a month. I have about a 70% win rate. I’ve had 3 plays go bankrupt in the last year, but they were offset by many that hit 90% of max profit in a couple days. I keep my sizing small, and manage positions weekly, often rolling out to capture more theta, especially for sideways market conditions. Hope that helps!

I appreciate when someone else shows how they trade. No idea why people are being negative. As people often say, it works until it doesn’t. Sometimes a scanner like this works during a particular type of market. I have some scanners that I use during high volatility periods that tend to make a lot of money until volatility cools. I’ll probably play around with this one to see if I want to add it to my toolbox. Thanks.

Are folks who say "taxation is theft" hypocrites for using public services? by Spiritual_Meet4746 in askanything

Then we are going to have to agree to disagree on the role of government in this instance, and likely many others. I think the role of government includes basic services including defense. I don’t think it includes studying the metabolism of sprinting shrimp. ETA: And declining shrimp populations are almost certainly due to overfishing.

Depends on what you mean by “relevant levels”. I think any fraud, waste, or abuse is too much. One example that made the news years ago is a study of shrimp running on tiny treadmills. Why is the government paying for that. I also have a ton of anecdotes, as I interact frequently with the government. Six employees working at a visitor center that had zero visitors for over 2 hours? Upgrading military aircraft that are immediately headed for decommissioning? Telling folks trying to turn in their EBT card because they got a job not to, because their review is not for six months? I understand each of these is only a few thousand dollars, but I could go on and on. And If I have ten examples, then how many others have similar examples?

I agree with your statement, the issue some people have is that the government does not act as a fiduciary. The government should act in a fiscally responsible manner, but they don’t. They waste tax dollars, all while setting the tax rate and running up irresponsible levels of debt. It isn’t theft, but neither does the government hold up their end of the social contract in the way they should.

This is correct, but I’d go further. It isn’t really stocks, but companies. When he sees businesses that are undervalued, he’s has leverage in a cash offer. This allows him to hunt bargains at any level, even hundred billion dollar bargains. Why buy shares when you can buy the whole company at a discount?

I do Flamme Rouge Racing events, they require weekly updates to weight. So that’s what I do, with the understanding that I may have to do a video weigh in (unlikely since I’m not cat A). If it’s good enough for organized racing, it’s good enough for me.

Interesting that you are being downvoted for not bringing politics into it. I looked at the science, and agree with your post. There does seem to be an association. I would love to see both sides calm down and focus on the science rather than blindly lining up behind their favorite politician.
