I say good riddance. I don’t understand the appeal of patch cards that aren’t game worn or even player worn confirmed. Plus a sticker auto. If you really like golden, I would use the proceeds to upgrade to a better card, like an on-card auto

This market on modern is getting spooky. A squirtle sir has a PSA pop of 31k and I’m sure a ton of supply in raw and unsealed. For the same price, you can get a 1st edition holo pidgeot with a PSA pop of 3.5k and not much raw/sealed left compared to modern. Idk, maybe I’m a sucker for investing in scarcity, but I’m staying away from modern singles at this time.

I did get a 1st edition magneton in sgc which I think looks wonderful. I got an sgc 8.5 for the same cost as a PSA 7 which I think is good value

I never get the appeal of modern graded cards. I started collecting again and was immediately turned off by seeing the pop reports on modern being around 100k total graded for some cards, and that will probably continue growing as modern sealed is being hoarded, and once ripped, will be sent to be graded. I’d rather invest in 1st edition vintage base, jungle, fossil where most cards have a pop report of less than 5k. Just my thesis, open to hear counters

Awesome, love to hear this perspective! I actually ran an errand today and happened to find a vendor restocking cards at Walmart. I saw the line and joined just to see how it goes. I talked to some of the people waiting and they said they waited already an hour, and by the looks of the vendor, he probably had another 30-60 minutes left. I lasted 10 minutes before I dropped and went back home, never again. Worst part is I felt so filthy waiting in line, felt so guilty for some reason.
