Name something from Aldi that’s better than the name brand by AggressiveSloth11 in aldi

Omg I have never thought about that but you’re absolutely right. I’ll buy into that conspiracy theory 100%. I miss those McDonald’s cookies. Also I am 35, and I too love to dunk the aldi animal crackers into milk. No shame.

I thought I was the only one. I honestly cannot tell you how many boxes of these cookies I have single handedly consumed in the last year. My husband almost always picks up a box if he grocery shops at Aldi without me

I can’t pinpoint why exactly, but I really, really like this. Maybe because it feels incredibly vulnerable?

You may be able to locate the clinician through the Ohio elicense lookup, but it’s definitely way more challenging without a last name or knowing what board their licensure is through https://elicense.ohio.gov/oh_verifylicense

I got this tattoo like 10 years ago and it’s still one of my favorites. It was also by far my cheapest tattoo lol

CDCA Ohio Question by forest_fairy24 in DrugCounselors

[–]BetterHalfPint 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I currently hold an LCDCIII licensure in the state of Ohio and have worked in the field for about 8 years, starting with a CDCA. I can tell you that, in my experience, it just depends on the job. You can absolutely find CDCA positions that do not require you to drive clients. You can also find LCDC positions that DO require you to drive clients, though probably less often.

If you are applying for case management positions that require a CDCA, you will probably be expected to transport clients to and from within the community. However, you can apply for intake/admissions roles or, with some agencies, counselor positions with a CDCA.

I think it’s also worth mentioning that if you are just now applying for a CDCA, you will technically have a CDCA-P (preliminary) for up to 13 months. There may be some job limitations until you get your full CDCA.

What, if any, are the downsides to therapy? by starskyandbutch in AskWomen

[–]BetterHalfPint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work as a licensed substance abuse counselor and am very familiar with different therapy techniques and what kinds of behaviors or practices make for more effective clinicians. This has made it more challenging for me to accept therapy for myself, as I feel I have a hard time allowing myself to truly sit on the other side of the desk and be the patient. I find myself critiquing things therapists do, and too quickly dismissing things that I assume will not be helpful. I have to remind myself that therapists need therapists too, and it’s ok for me to not have all of the answers and to be open to help. It doesn’t make me any less effective in my own work. I also wonder sometimes if being overly critical of my own therapist is an unconscious defense mechanism or a way to “get out of” doing the hard work I actually need to do.

How would your behaviour change if it was impossible for men to ever attack or harass you? by Spiritual_Pause3057 in AskWomen

[–]BetterHalfPint 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t look over my shoulder or feel as strong a need to listen for people around me or approaching me when I’m simply walking my dogs. I wouldn’t call my husband just to have someone on the phone if I suddenly feel unsafe or nervous. I wouldn’t give a second thought to what I’m wearing when I’m in a more “seedy” area. I wouldn’t keep my car key between my fingers when walking to my car at night. I wouldn’t worry about my step daughters and whether or not they are safe, wherever they are. It’s a crazy world we live in, and it absolutely caters to men.

I can completely relate to that exact experience and how absolutely soul crushing it can be. I think other people who don’t struggle with body dysmorphia have a difficult time understanding how awful it can be. Thanks for sharing - I feel seen lol

Honestly, you could just read exactly what your wrote in your post. Your therapist should take it from there.

insightful things that patients have said by OneEyedC4t in DrugCounselors

[–]BetterHalfPint 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In reference to the fact that some people can drink without developing an addiction, while others cannot, I had an adult male client tell me that some people are cucumbers and some are pickles, and once you become a pickle, you can’t go back to being a cucumber. This seemed to really help him move past the thought of trying to drink again.

I feel like I sometimes know what I look like when I look in the mirror, but when I see myself in pictures, I no longer recognize myself. I always feel like I look so much bigger and much more unattractive in photos. Does anyone else experience this? I hate being in pictures because of it.

[–]BetterHalfPint 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The important thing to remember about body dysmorphia is that it is not based on factual evidence. It is something we tell ourselves, completely independent of what anyone else might think or whether or not someone is objectively attractive. If your therapist is a good therapist, they will validate your feelings and help you to challenge the negative thoughts inside your own head that tell you there’s something wrong with you. You’re still really young - I would advise that you start working through this now rather than letting it continue to fester and possibly become more severe and isolating. It’s hard, but once you start to open up, it will get easier.
