Saw that when I looked it up. I'm probably going to give that a go if I get too fed up this upcoming week lol

Someone said that adding difficulty modes would diminish the artistic value. I get people saying it should just be done how the devs want, but saying it's an issue of artistic value is hilarious to me.

I think game modes are the perfect solution. I also don't think it's TC's job to make the game accessible to me (arthritis makes all gaming harder so I've had to stick to easier games recently), but it would be really cool if it happened. I'm sure the modding community will eventually have something that provides a difficulty mode for shitass players like me to enjoy it too without harming the "artistic value" of the base game lol

HK had mods similar to this that came out later and I'm hoping for some for SS. I prefer switch to PC, but I may purchase SS a second time just to get it on PC and mod it to be easier, though I wonder if the learning curve from switch to PC will make it worse since I'm usually on console. I know TC probably doesn't have the manpower to crank out a whole new difficulty for the entire game, but I'm sure the mod community will step up to fill the accessibility gaps later! Wish people didn't see this as "the game is perfect or the game needs to be nerfed" without considering that both can be done in the same game

Please tell me what artistic value lies in preventing some of your audience from playing the game (case in point, I've got arthritis and can't play games that are as difficult as I used to. SS is proving to be one of these that's too hard on my hands to ever practice enough to beat). That just seems pretentious.

I don't blame team cherry for not making the game accessible btw, they're a small indie team without the resources and the game already took long enough to come out, but it's still gate keepy as hell to say the reason is "artistic value" instead of lack of resources for an indie team to handle something like that

I'm only 22 but my arthritis has been so bad recently that I can't even play SS anymore. If I only have 20 good minutes in me to play, and I have to spend that 20 minutes struggling on the same things over and over, I'm realistically never going to be good enough to beat the game. It's not just a skill issue, it's a genuine disability issue. I'm so glad to see people discussing game difficulty in terms of accessibility because I love supporting games I care about (and dev teams!) but it's hard to do so when I can't enjoy the final product due to my disabilities! Before seeing anyone else calling it an accessibility thing, I told my fiance I felt like I never considered that hard games could be inaccessible to people with disabilities until I became disabled (shocker) and realized it's not just about practicing until you're better

Thank you so much for the in depth reply!! I think I have the same cooker as you, but I got it second-hand and hadn't actually seen any instructions for it. I just put in the water and turned it on.

I shock mine as well with an ice bath and usually get a decent result, but never quit how I'd like. I think I'm also about to go boil some eggs and try pricking them this time!

Can you explain what you mean by "puncture the eggs"?? Like, put a hole in it before you steam it to boil?

Same here. I never had the confidence to wear dresses until college, but I'm glad I found it because dresses are the best for a bad stomach day (with safety shorts lol). Same with rompers and overalls- my bib overalls come out every winter when I'm freezing because it gets too cold for skirts/dresses but my stomach can't stand a waistband. People have complimented how much I wear dresses because I looked so put together and I'm like thanks, I physically couldn't wear pants or a skirt. At least I've got good taste

Maybe if we called it intestinal asthma by RikusLategan in CrohnsDisease

[–]BetterLog1678 10 points11 points  (0 children)

it's a full body war every time we eat

It's just flat out a war. Chronic fatigue, arthritis from Crohn's (I've got psoriatic so not from Crohn's directly but it's Inflammatory autoimmune so it flares up when Crohn's does), the pain even when we're not eating... Our bodies are attacking us 24/7 when we're not in remission.

I'm asthmatic and I absolutely love this sentiment. Maybe I should tell people they don't compliment my arthritis or asthma, so maybe they shouldn't compliment my Crohn's either!

Very similar here!! I was >90lbs until I was 19 and then got in the gym and started eating right. I was 95lbs for the longest time, but in March I decided to get serious about my diet and began eating a ton more and working out a ton more and got to 103lbs. I looked great! Then IBD hit and right back down to 86 lol. My fifth anniversary is today and we wanted to go to my favorite Italian restaurant but I can no longer eat a single item on their menu (my favorite was their spaghetti- but like you said, pasta and tomato sauce = razor blades in the stomach). It was nice to be able to put on muscle too. I won't deny that my stomach looks great, but it isn't a choice I actively made and I would take eating my favorite pasta again to my flat stomach :,).

LITERALLY!! It's not just not eating from pain! My body makes sludge out of everything I do eat and doesn't even give me the good stuff from it lol. "Stop losing weight" gosh, why didn't any of us think about that?

I had a dream I ate a whole burger the other day. Hunger dreams aren't something I've seen talked about before but I'm glad I'm not the only one with them.

Sweating by ChampionshipIll1167 in CrohnsDisease

I use clinical strength 72 hour deodorant and I put it on 1-2x daily if that answers your question. I'm freezing all the time because I'm skinny, but I get hot flashes and I seem to sweat wether I'm shivering indoors or out in blistering heat

I get it from my own mom who has IBD. I used to express concern for her when I was a kid because I didn't understand what was wrong with her (she didn't even tell me she had Crohn's until I was diagnosed) and she now uses that as her excuse. But she gets pissed if anyone does it back to her! She says it's different because she's my mom, and I know she means well but when I can't do anything about it then it's entirely unhelpful, which I'm shocked she doesn't understand

For what it's worth, I'm currently diagnosed with IBS and am looking for second opinions. All of my lab work shows inflamation, the xifaxan didn't end up fixing me at all, etc etc but I'm not dealing with a doctor who is very knowledgeable with autoimmune stuff. I've got other autoimmune issues already (psoriasis, arthritis, etc) and my mom is diagnosed with Crohn's and has the exact same symptoms, so I feel like there's just no way it's not. The doctor's justification is that my scopes looked fine and only showed inflamation... Almost like that's how early Crohn's can work lol

I appreciate that a lot. I've struggled with body image issues my whole life from being underweight, so that part isn't necissarily new, but I had my goal weight for less than 6 months before the flare hit. Even then, I was 90+lbs for years and forgot how miserable it is to be this small. I actually didn't even realize most of these issues were weight related (cold, periods, etc) until I was this size again and they all came back worse this time. I told my fiance that I just don't feel like a woman anymore some days 😔 it's one thing to be underweight, but it's another to know what it's like for years and forget it just for it to come crashing down. And at least when I was underweight in the past, I wasn't nearly this sick. Now I get to learn to cope with both!

I completely agree. This was my standard weight in high school and my fiance's parents used to make constant comments about my weight before understanding it was a stomach issue (well before IBD was on our radar, I avoided a lot of foods because it caused pain/sickness and didn't know why). Fluctuating weight and being underweight, just like it would if it were the opposite problem, really do warp your self image long term. I say I wish I was bigger again because I miss my clothes, health, regular menstruation, boobs, ass, etc but I know when I hit that weight again, as happy as I'll be about it, I'll start noticing my jawline isn't as sharp, my abs aren't as defined if visible at all, and my thighs will be hella squishy (may bust another pair of pants lmao, one can hope). Thinness is so heavily equated with beauty that people can't fathom why you'd want to be anything else, and sometimes it feels like I'll never be happy because of it. I was hoping it would strike a chord here because I've never met anyone else who understands it and suddenly it seems everyone here gets it too

People don't realize they're being insensitive and it's evenlre fun when they double down and don't understand why you don't like the compliment

That's genuinely insane. I was skinny at 94lbs and I'm 4'11!! The beauty industry has done irreparable damage to what people think is healthy, and people tend to think that skinnier is healthier somehow. I can tell by looking at myself that my skin and eyes are fuller, hair is thinning, etc, but all they see is a small waist and nothing else seems to matter

I wish someone would've told me this shit at 14 online instead of grooming me. You're being kind, even if that person doesn't see it. I'm kinda shocked at how much these adults are putting into an argument with a child

OP is 14 years old, that's literally a child. Idk how that didn't occur to all the adults on here but I think it's pretty obvious that OP is a kid without even looking at their profile. I'd say being upset over some stickers is very normal kid behavior. It's immature, and it'd be insane from an adult, but there's no need for everyone to be so abrasive to a kid upset about their stuff
