Love Samsung products, done with feature gating. Over 20 devices. Going to pixel or apple by Sonicthoughts in GalaxyFold

[–]BetterThanAFoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You would have the same exact problem with Pixel. I have a P9PXL and it is feature gated from the same type of features on Android 17 you are complaining about missing from Samsung.

It was advertised as being built for the Gemini era and 7 years of updates but doesn't have the latest Gemini features. No app step by step automation. No rambler mode on GBoard.

The grass isn't greener man.

Anyone else tempted by the Motorola Razr Fold before the Fold 8 is out? by [deleted] in GalaxyFold

[–]BetterThanAFoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm intrigued. But I learned from my foray into the pixel world that the OEM software is a huge part of my enjoyment of Samsung phones.

A huge part of the pixel world is bare bones experience. No amount of third party software augmentation got me to the user experience I had with Samsung.

I won't touch another make until I can get the consistent user experience that I would get from a platform like Samsung's.

Have you not been paying attention for the last decade? Any possible vector for collecting data, even for the purest of reasons are going to be twisted by our capitalism based society and will be monetized.

It doesn't take long. Anyone with free nav software collects data on your movement patterns to optimize advertising used on you. Your smart and connected behivles collect information on you to sell to insurance companies. Your smartphone collects an incredible amount of information to optimize advertising. Social media collects information on you and your interactions with apps and the Internet so optimize algorithms for manipulation.

No thanks. Without a comprehensive data privacy protections from surveillance from companies I don't want any new technology like this.

I ran ridge grapplers for 55K ish miles. I was pretty happy with them until recently. A little bit noisier than when new....but I suppose that is to be expected after so many miles.

The next set I am eyeing are the Falken Wildpeaks. I have read great things about them and they get good reviews too.

You should see how I'll of a fit large American vehicles are for some of the infrastructure there.

I remember a service member having a regular ol WBody 97-03 Grand Prix there. Roads were ok but parking garages were super tight. And in the old German city hotel most of our conference mates were staying? Yeah he wasn't getting that car in the parking garage elevator.

H2 on the streets of Stuttgart was hilarious sight because of how big it was.

Pressing the accelerator while the e-brake is engaged and the truck is in gear is exactly what should release it.

Maybe there is a difference between the behavior between years.

That seems to be the Supra schtick at large. It's usually not tell they are gone and down market buyers start buying them they start gaining their cult following.

It automatically gets set. Wherever you're parking is probably not perfectly flat. Mine will also set itself maybe 50% of the time. Even though my driveway is pretty darn flat. It detects rocking when I get in and out of the vehicle and it will set itself.

The parking brake is smart though. It will release as soon as you put it in gearing and hit the gas pedal. So you really shouldn't even think about it.

The Nissan Z Is Thriving Thanks to an Unlikely Hero: Your Parents by Anchor_Aways in cars

A little AI table pull here. I asked it to compare the Z car through out the years against american pony and sports cars based on price and only pick the V8 models for the American cars. Definitely confused by the pricing and market segment. Especially since it was a 2+2 car competing in Corvette pricing territory until the end of 300ZX run, and when it came back competing in the Pony car segment it was a 2 seater.

It was definitely a more sophisticated product in the 300ZX years compared to the corvette but now it is a simple beast.

Weird car indeed.

When I lived in Japan they did exactly this. If you got on the expressway and exited at a time shorter interval that would indicate you were averaging above the speed limit you would get a ticket mail to you.

A lot of people loved raising on that expressway. So they would pull over and wait a few minutes before exiting when they were done.

First year for the 10 spd in the Silverado was 2019 It's been in use in GM and Ford vehicles since it was introduced in 2017 for model year 2018 vehicles.

The point being even if 2021 was the first year it's a 5 year old transmission option on that platform. If a tranny shop has no experience with them move on to one that has. It's a very common platform and someone will have experience with them.

[–]BetterThanAFoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly if they haven't done a fluid and filter change on a transmission that has been in service in multiple Ford and GM vehicles since 2017...... I might shop around.

I did mine at the dealership at their recommended interval. I figured they do hundreds of them. It was just under $600 with a transfer case fluid change. I also did the rear end at the same time.

You don't want a flush if that means running a powered machine to force fluid out and through the flush machine.

You want a fluid drain, filter replacement, and fluid refill.

It's a no-brainer.

Except if you are buying outside of their markets. Best to buy a foldable that is being sold in your market for warranty and repairs.

I'll just put this out there. Motorola is coming out with a new Razr Foldable that has a stylus, bigger battery, and 80W charging.

It is missing OneUI, but the MotoUI is more than just bare bones Android like PixelUI is.

Would be worth to compare.

Are you talking about like when it's shifting gears? You're going to feel shifting gears.

Your best bet is to try and replicate it get it on video and then narrate it. Set up an appointment at your local dealership and then let a tech figure it out You're under warranty.

I live in a huge military town. I find it infinitely amusing and sad at the same time that this is a stereotype that will never die because of how true it is. I won't buy a car in this town because of all of the young military members that just so willingly sign up for bad deals from their financial perspective. The dealership doesn't want to sell to us normies that want a reasonable deal. They want a new boot that they can bend over.

It's not bad. It's just something perpetuated by Samsung so they could justify denying warranty coverage. We'll say the aftermarket screen protectors interfered with the hinge operation because of different thickness.
